Jaxson: That's been my general experience: the Android market has more rubbish apps than the istore, due often to the apps not knowing what hardware they're going to actually get, whereas all i software knows the hardware it will be playing with. Manufacturers that supply both hardware and software have always got a compatibility head start for sure.

The 'limiting' / 'controlling' nature of apple can often have benefits by weeding out the really crap stuff, so it's not even available for their devices. Lends to more happier customers in that respect than Android.

Umm the Nexus 4 has excellent developer support...

I am on an iPad forum, you'd be surprised how many are using that instead of the full iPad or have sold the full iPad. Its really personal preference. I prefer a 4.5 phone if there was one in the i variety and the full iPad, Others hate bigger phones, want the 3.5, others hate the 3.5 and want bigger. Ideal option is to meet the market and provide both. One day, maybe.

I don't think the iPhones are as well made as people make out. My phone is with Telegistics being repaired at this moment due to a manufacturing fault. The returns process on the iphone is overly convoluted, long winded and with an intense air of suspicion towards customers (i.e. you must of dropped your phone in the bath or something).

Although after some initial anxiety the best thing about being away from my iPhone is how peaceful life has become. I'm starting to think I don’t want it to come back.

I love customizing. I used to be addicted to theming my jailbroken iPhone and even delved into creating my own themes for Winterboard. But the process of changing any part of the UI on the iPhone is quite a task.

Like others, I basically got bored of iOS and gave Android a go. Bought the original Note (upgraded to the II last Xmas). MiUI themes, CM10 themes, launchers, icon packs, live wallpapers... the list goes on!

Long story short, I could never go back to iOS as it is now (hardware and software).

Here is my 2 cents.

Had an iphone 4s and went and baught S3, used it for 3 weeks, sold it and bought iphone 5.

Even though S3 has more features than iphone, bigger screen, expandable memory and lot more inbuilt features, with iphone everything was just so very easy.

Like 1 hand to handle the phone, quick search to find apps plus less steps in so many different situations.

Where as with S3 there were so many instances that I hit the back button by accident when not intending to, for eg I would be watching youtube and trying to tilt horizontally and my thumb would accidentally hit the back key. You get a phone call and you are trying to take it out of your pocket and it would hit the volume key on the side. It was just getting frustating.

Maybe I am too used to ios that can't work on android at all.

I've seen others do the same and swiftly revert back to iOS, recently more who stayed with Android after switching though.

To be honest I found using the iPhone 4S I had last year an incredibly frustrating exercise, it seems nearly all the ways it is restricted are things that impact my normal use. For me personally it wasn't easy to use at all.

Off-topic observation: Geekzone is amazing. This discussion could not be held on like 99% of the internet without it degenerating into a stupid slanging match. Well done all!

I think you missed the point. What is being said is that continually Apple come out saying "customers don't want this" and then someone else does it, it takes off, and Apple joins the party all the while tactfully ignoring that they ever were against it in the first place. iPad mini is the example.

I found the same thing too, until a got a case that put a border around those buttons, so they are recessed and can't be easily pressed. The S3 does take a bit of getting used to over the iphone, specially the back button. Not a great fan of the positioning of those bottom buttons myself, as I would prefer they were in the app, like they are on the iphone, but I guess it means more screen realestate.

We all have our own tickboxes. I am sure that many of us or some of us on any one of the 3 platforms that we prefer, see something on the other that we quite like. I had a quick play with Swype on an HTC just before, very cool. Im purty good on the iOS keyboard, so while I didnt see Swype as amazing or vastly time saving, it is very good and a bit quicker. Nice.

That this thread even exists should be a concern to Apple. Because more than one iPhone user has agreed with the OP. Apple's market share has relied on their products being objects of desire (justifiably). But now there are equally desirable alternatives. The velvet handcuffs for a lot of users is the investment in both App purchases and the time spent learning to get the most out of your handset.

As an aside, the final straw for a colleague was when the new voice search feature that came with Jellybean both understood the question and provided an answer faster than Siri. He still loves his iPhone 5 and wouldn't be without it but he no longer hassles me about 'only' being able to afford an Android phone.
