khull: For those who are unaware check out invisible shield by zagg. They are the gold standard.

i have just put mine on and its beautiful. i am someone who gets bothered by small things but honestly, the zagg does not show up when you are using the screen. even my friends i handed it to did not realise there was a shield over the whole thing!

it is definitely worth putting in the effort and care to apply it correctly - i spent 1hr myself...

1hr? wow - i took about 30mins with the iPad and it was a mission to get it on.

also do try MobileMe - the find my idevice feature is great for wiping out data and locking the phone out - it is not free but when you can afford an iPhone, it is not an excuse

oh having said that, i went all anal and smoothed out every single damn thing i cud see... i had a pretty much flawless install right after i finished - oh and i also had the maximum coverage option, side pieces caused some trouble > <

mmm im so tempted... mobileme sounds useful, especially that find my iphone feature. i think i will wait and see what happens, hopefully apple will decide to offer that feature for free sometime. fingers crossed

yea any small bubbles will smooth out within 24-48 hours like any other protector - and its great with a lifetime replacement so if the protector starts peeling you can replace it for free.

MobileMe makes sense if you have more than one idevice (ipad, 2xiphones, ipod touch). for example when i got the iphone4 i didn't have to sync it immediately to get my contacts, calendars, bookmarks etc. All I had to do was to supply my credentials and everything is synced to the cloud. If I add a calendar appointment, it shows up on my mac, iphone and ipad automatically. No wires, no hassle.

I am probably an exception since I give apple too much of my money away.

I personally don't see much value in mobileme. I use google sync for email/contacts/calendar cloud support and dropbox for online storage. Only thing I haven't found a replacement for is Find my iPhone but that's not worth the $140/year to me.

Edit: Also had the invisible shield for my previous iphone. Felt slightly tacky for me and started to look quite beat up after a while with it. Saw that the one for the iPhone 4 didn't have cutouts for the buttons, is that right?

it does, tho i think most people dont bother with the home button, but i put it on for the sake of completion. would you like a photo of mine?

um no i can report no tackiness, as i said friends didnt even realise something was on it. zagg have probably made a new version that is perhaps smoother? improved on the formula shall i say. im only had it on for 2 days. hopefully it lasts

I was #2 in the queue (after Nudge) at Vodafone Glenfield.

Outta there at 12:10 with the phone :-D

I put it in a BodyGuardz shield straight away.  It's nearly dry (it takes a few days) and as it's drying I'm starting to see how awesome this screen is.

I think it really hits home if you go to the NZ Herald full website completely zoomed out - no pixelation on the text!!!

I'm in Albany and I've tried out the death grip.  Each time it drops about 2 bars, but never below 1 bar.  Not an issue.

The main thing I've noticed is the speed!!!  WOW is all I have to say.

From a female point of view, one of the greatest features of this phone is the front facing camera.  Last night I could check out how my makeup photographed while I was putting it on, and while I was out it became a pocket mirror.  So cool.

I also like the "Flashlight" free app, it turns on the LED as a torch.  Neat.

The only thing I haven't really been able to play with is FaceTime, due to Vodafone refusing to sell me 2 (I was going to resign my husbands contract).  Anyone wanna PM me a number to try out FaceTime tomorrow night?  I don't know anyone else that got one :-(

Oh also I called Apple and asked about the free bumper.  They said it would be available in a few weeks.

Well I'm glad that you like it :). Could you please put up a photo of the side buttons (volume and toggle)?

oh yea, as i been using it for longer and longer, i have noticed weird problems...

first - when inputting birthdays into your contacts on the iphone, the date is out of sync by 1day and when it shows up on the calendar, it screws up as well damn...

secondly - iphone seems there is a difference between 6421xxxxx and 021xxx... minor perhaps but annoying when the messages dont thread up nicely.

thirdly - when syncing contacts thru to microsoft outlook, the contacts in outlook dont contain more than 2 numbers. e.g. i have 3 number (021, 027, 022, yes i know i dont need 3, but whatever, bear with me here) it does not all sync thru...

i had this image of iphone being amazing and magical at first... i still think its a great phone and these issues are somewhat minor (im not complaining, just detailing them down) but it seems odd that the more i use it, the more things i have to "get used to". everything else works fine and of course the issues i have encountered (and probably by no means the last) are greatly offset by everything else the iphone offers. its just a shame that the tiny details arent fixed....

That' good news.  I started with Invisible Shield on the iPhone 3G and problem for me was that your fingers did not slide (or glide) on the surface like they did on the glass. Sometimes they would stick and was not the same fluid motion.
