I just got back from the vodafone store on queen street, both of them. also JB hifi too.
JBhifi told me no one had it, "apple hadnt actually announced it and apple is just pissed at nzherald for breaking ipad story early" (wtf?) they took my details, name ph# email and said probably early next week.
I went to flag ship vodafone store and they said come back at lunch time.
I went to the other vodafone shop closer to LV, Lacoste and Gucci, they said they know its being sold, they just dont know where.
I go to parallel imported and the guy says "F*ck vodafone and apple dude, im pissed off! i have no phone and they make me wait!, i didnt get any sleep last night!" ( I can relate..)

So.. Noon @ Voda anyone??

ahmad: Not that anyone cares except me, but someone seriously needs to do some formal investigative journalism into this scandal.

Seriously.

People can say "it's just a farking phone - get over it!"

People can say that this is an orchestrated PR campaign.

The fact is that hundreds of people have been shafted by Apple and/or Vodafone in relation to this in terms of time wasted both online and in real life waiting in line.

WTF? Telling people who queued this morning that launch is cancelled only to relaunch at 12pm?

Way to screw people over. Well played.

Personally I'm not affected by the queueing as I didn't/won't queue. But this is farking ridiculous.

Any attempt to "investigative journalism" will result in official PR people spinning things. You will only get some truth from whistle blowers - and then how do you know it's the truth?

No one will ever get an official story. Like when Vodafone launched the Google G1 with naked girls in body paint and then had to remove the handsets from the shelves, after launch day. Google wasn't happy, but the real story never really came out.

Well nows your opportunity...  Laughing

ahmad:
magu: 2degrees is looking a lot better.

It is a REAL shame they haven't been able to mobilise in time for today. With all the ball-dropping today it would have been perfect timing to be launch. Or maybe they have an embargoed press release for 11:59am? Cool

Read about 2degrees 3G launch here.

I could easily as I'm in AK City Library at the moment but unless I know pricing may not actually be keen.

Kind of out of left field, but when I was on the DSE website earlier they had the 3Gs 16GB for $999, and the 32GB for $1099 - the prices seem to have changed back again now though... Not sure what that was about.

Update from NewstalkZB Twitter:
"Vodafone has been left red-faced over what was meant to have been the launch of the iPhone 4.

A spokesman greeted around a dozen people waiting outside its store on Auckland's Queen Street and told them it can't sell the new phones at the moment. People waiting were offered a complementary coffee.

Vodafone says it can't comment on what's stalling the launch and is directing media enquiries to Apple."
