My guess is that the general public (non-Geekzoners) wouldn't have the slightest idea of the drama going on the last 24 hours with the uncertainty about the release. We are vocal about it on here, but I reckon that it won't be picked up by the mainstream media in the way we want it to be (I know NZH reported on it but they were just repeating what was being said on here and Twitter) but if it is and they hit Vodafone up about it, their official line will be "there were some supply issues that we can't elaborate on but the fantastic news is that it is now in stock and it is proving very popular". And that would be the end of it, I don't think we'll ever officially know what has been going on, guaranteed it will have nothing to do with supply issues.

Now that the general public know they can get one at midday they are happy, most aren't going to care why there were no details released prior, why you couldn't get it at 9am, or why the details disappeared off their website yesterday.

Vodafone will now just be assuming that the controversy will just blow over, and 'give it some time those pesky Geekzoners will just get over it.'

Someone really needs to hit them up about what has really gone on because it has been the most farcical launch in recent times.

It's still not clear if anyone apart from VF is going to have any iPhone 4's available today, tomorrow, next week etc?

Some of us would prefer not to buy from VF.

Cheers - N

Paul,

Not all store listed on your site:

https://www.vodafone.co.nz/help/store-locations/#iphone4

Actually have stock, tried several in Auckland who all say they will not be getting any for several weeks.  Is there a definitive list of stores that will have them today?

Thanks

You should be able to purchase direct from Apple later this evening.

The website has the list of stores - check the button and it'll list them. About 20 odd I believe.

cheers

Paul

There's been a few posts around saying it would be on the Apple store around 7-8pm tonight, just means you won't get it on release day :(

I wouldn't be surprised if the secrecy was more directed from Apple, given that VF directed inquiries to them when the news first emerged. If Apple stuffed up the shipment or what ever happened, it's hard to point the finger @ VF. And i think they will have told VF to keep lip tight on the situation.

Heading to Queen St Auckland now... Hoping the line won't be too much longer when I get there.

Anyone know if any digital mobile stores are selling with plan?

I'm waiting till 7pm to get mine..

"Apple have also been quoted as saying the iPhone 4 will be available for online purchase from Apple.co.nz starting 7pm tonight. Vodafone, on the other hand, say that online purchases of the iPhone 4 from them will start in the “coming weeks” – perhaps due to stock shortages."

Hope thats accurate.. taken from iPhonewzealand

Don't bash the PR guy. I can tell by the amount of phone calls this morning and how alert he was that he had had a very very hard night. Big businesses take ages to sort stuff out and it's not Pauls fault.

Thanks for doing your best Paul, I can only imagine the pressure you would have been under!
