dclegg: Would be ironic if this whole mess was caused by a souring of relationships between Vodafone and Apple, and yet the only way you can currently get a phone is if you commit to a plan with VF. Jobs and Co. would've really stuck it to VF then, huh? :-)

it sounds like it is a stock issue, and if you were Vodafone who would you want to give them to? those who buy them outright or on prepay that can easily walk down the road and put in a competitors SIM, or those who promise to pay you every month for the next 2 years?

i know which one person i would give the iPhone 4 too

Any posts are personal comments and not that of my employer

$500 credit and look at their per min pricing and free mins ....awesome!!!!

Great news, YEAH RIGHT

I was #2 in line and waited well in advance, I called Vodafone twice and was told I could get the iPhone 4 on launch day as I was over 12months into my contract yet when I go to buy, I am told no.

Thanks so so much for wasting my time,

They are not allowing you to resign unless you are in your 20th month or more, and she wouldn't let me cancel and resign up either.

So I am VERY annoyed right now after previously being told a different story.

Sure, it makes business sense to do what they are doing. But as a pre-pay customer, I don't have to be happy about it. For this I should probably be directing anger at Apple though, for not making outright phone purchase available sooner.

Also, are we 100% certain that it IS a stock issue? Certainly doesn't explain the poor handling of communications on this issue. It probably is a stock issue after all, but I doubt we'll ever know if it wasn't, and coming up with juicy alternative conspiracy theories is a lot more fun. :-)

They can't stop you from cancelling the contract as long as you pay the penalties..

That's just Ridiculous.  Why on earth couldn't you have just entered into a new contract then cancelled your other one via phone or something. I don't understand these guys sometimes. Most times.

I was number 1 in the queue at Glenfield.  I have to say the sale team treated us really well.  Gave us numbers, signed everything up before 12, and bang on 12.00 paid and walked away with the new phone.  Piece of cake.  Flash new iPhone, being synched right now, even cam charged.

That being said, I am pretty sure I will canceling the contract and going to xt or 2'

I would wait for hype to settle.  The dude "implied" that have a "few"  Wait till like 2 or 3, then goto perhaps another store and sign up a new contract.  Don't even mention your old one
