Some advice to desperadoes...

JB-HiFi and DSE will have stock shortly. Wait till next week.

ALWAYS buy the thing outright and don't get sucked into contracts - that's why so many people are blubbing at the moment with tears 'cause they are stuck in a dumb contract.

I also bet that Telecom are quietly waiting in the wings to make an announcement.

Coming to the light side should not be this painful - shame on Vodafone!

I am seriously pissed off at the moment, I waited 30 minutes outside MagnumMac this morning to find that they aren't allowed to sell the iPhone 4. Now Vodafone tell me they have the iPhone 4 for sale in select stores, but only on contract! WTF VODAFONE?!

Im so annoyed with Vodafone, went down to a couple of stores who said they didn't have any then I went to Vodafone in Manukau who did have them but didnt sell it to me. I called 777 before going there who told me I could get it if I was an existing on account customer and this is what I get. The manukau store told me that I could only terminate my contract for $300 something. We have about 10 phones on Talk Zone Zero with these guys and they dont want to sell it to us. I've wasted 2 days following Vodafone to get an iPhone and tell me to F off at the end of my effort.

Guess i'll just have to wait for online sales to begin and buy outright which will probably take 3 weeks from now. Arrh, i hate VF.

oxnsox: It's a contract... they signed it. Suck it up.

+1 to  this. I hate soap operas but this train wreck to too good to look away. I think I should start an online tissue supplier, a few geeks around here certainly need some.

If a fanboy cries because they didnt get an iPhone on launch day, but nobody cares, did it really happen?Undecided

Read the post which this comments relates to.

They READ TFC. Vodafone are the ones breaching the agreed terms here.

And you obviously cared enough to post so I guess it did.

They are providing free cases (either the bumper or a 3rd party case), but you have to download an app, select the one you want, then wait 3-5 weeks for them to send it to you. You don't get it at time of purchase.

Yeah think you have it a bit wrong there... Sure they are in a contract but they have a right to break the contract also as long as they pay the penalty its part of the terms and conditions is it not?

when I say break the contract i mean leave it early.

ahmad: I caved.

I have iPhone 4.

I got pissed off on behalf of someone turned away with more than 6 months remaining in their contract wanting to re-sign.

That's complete BULL

Try 6 weeks .

You are allowed to do it. You have to pay. You signed the contract. "Suck it up" as someone said.

But someone with 6-12 months remaining is allowed to re-sign with a $150+gst fee ACCORDING TO THEIR OWN T&Cs.

So to the person that said "suck it up", you are totally wrong there. VF is CHOOSING who they sell their iPhone to and are screwing those early adopters who will queue year on year to get the new iPhone with Vodafone.

Nice one Vodafone!!

Then dont buy from VFNZ.. They dont make the phone if you hadnt noticed...

Do you have a source for this? And do either of these sell the phone outright, or do you have to sign up to a VF contract?

The thing that gets me is it clearly states on their website you can re-sign after 12 months of a 24 month contract. EVERYONE I know who's gone in over recent weeks asking about re-signing gets the same story from VF sales people that you can't re-sign unless you're inside 3 months. They are wrong, so very wrong.

SSDD.

But do you hate them enough to move your business elsewhere? That's the only thing that will make Vodafone sit up and take notice, your words don't mean anything to them, they know they have it good in this country.

VFNZ also have the right to chose who to sell the device to.. If you have it in writing that they will sell you one with a re-sign, and you can re-sign, then you have them for breach of contract. Very simple really....

Absolute circus of a "launch", whoever organized that circus should get the axe.
Whoever decided not to bother letting customers know should go too.

I totally agree, there should be accountability for such an important and anticipated product launch balls-up.

But thats the thing, in reality its not important at all.  The NZ release of a device that is available elsewhere.....
