Pre-order is starting today in the US. Not available on the NZ Apple Store at the moment, but might be coming when they open for sale in the US?

Yup. Getting 2 straight away. Can't wait. The potential is endless with the App Store. It's what it should have been all along.

Been checking the store today but as you say nothing on the NZ store as yet.

I think Tim Cook just said pre order Monday Ship Friday. No details as to the time or if this is just US. Will keep an eye on the site tonight. As usual it will go down for a while before hand so plenty of notice.

With the high NZ dollar I'm guessing $249 for the 32gb and $299 for the 64gb.

I hope you're right, but those prices seem a bit low considering the current exchange rate (and the need to add GST). I'm guessing more like $269 for the 32gb and $349 for 64gb

On the bright side I think the 32gb will be more than enough. There is no attached storage so the internal storage is basically reserved for apps. 32gb is a lot of apps.

I'm guessing somewhere around $269 for the base model.

I thought the storage was for media as well as apps but the software managed the storage and would delete and download as space was required so 32gb may be enough

Like Apple TV's gone by the storage will probably be able to be used for some stuff like downloading a movie to watch later. They may even allow Apple Music songs to be stored offline but for me I'll be using the storage solely for apps so 32gb will be fine.

The app I can't wait for is Plex. Finally the Apple TV will be the one and only device I need.

I may see if I can get one for Xmas.
Didn't appeal at first but the more I read, the more it appeals.

Might wait to see what it's like once a few local reviews are out etc. Quite keen to see what the app store will churn out in the future, definitely should have been like this from the start but they got there eventually :P my current gen Apple TV will do fine for now unless my Visa Santa is extra generous this year!

So I was still wrong with the price.

Now available to buy at $299 for 32GB and $399 for 64GB.

Reluctantly ordered 32GB, considered getting via the US but by the time you add shipping it may not have been a whole lot cheaper

The remote is different in countries that Siri is not supported (includes NZ)

I'm pretty certain the remote is the same, it's just Siri functionality we won't get here at first.
