If one were to scratch one's new iPhone display would one be eligible for express replace under Applecare+??

No, I wouldn't call a scratch a replaceable issue at all.

 

A scratch would be classed as cosmetic damage, which the Ts&Cs for AppleCare+ state that it is not covered.

No idea, you may have some luck under the NZ consumer Guarantees Act as Apple touts how tough the glass is.

 

 

 

OK, if some one attacked it with a diamond ring then you should look at insurance, but if it has been scratched though

 

normal use...hmmmm.... that would be interesting.

If the phone works fine and it is just a scratch and not a crack then I would leave well enough alone. The iPhone X is still very hard to get hold of afaik and so the chances of you getting a new one as opposed to a refurbished model will be slim to none at a guess :)

Whether it’s express replacement I don’t know, but you could certainly use one of your two incidents to get it repaired if you like.

“AppleCare+ also provides service coverage through the Coverage End Date above and adds coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage from handling. Each incident will be subject to a service fee of NZ$49 for screen damage, or NZ$169 for all other damage. AppleCare+ benefits are in addition to any rights you may have under consumer law.”
