Hi Team.

 

 

 

So My iphone now seems to regularly failing to send SMS messages. I have good cell signal*

 

I have tried resetting the phone to factory settings in itunes deleting all data and setting phone up as new and the issue remains you name it I've tried it I've also tried a couple of Sim Cards 

 

I've called vodafone and they reset something at their end which hasn't helped. it did seem to only be long messages that would fail now it's even short ones and it's very often and if I get a text from someone I will try to reply a couple of times but then have to give up (Error Message sending failed)  it's getting very annoying.

 

I am running the latest version of IOS 11. Calls don't drop and mobile data work fine. Does this sound like a hardware issue? Should I take it into a apple authorised repair agent? I was going to wait till November/december before I went to one (to get my cheap battery replacement) But if this is a hardware issue I better take it in now cause it's under warranty till September  (Purchased at launch)

Would like to know what Vodafone staff member reset?

Bahahabaha trust me they reset nothing

Turn off imessage and see if the same issue happens and no way it's SIM card related either

LMFAO that's what I thought. they even said they did a ''line test'' I didn't even think that were possible on mobiles..

I like imessage though I don't wanna turn it off and also turning it back on costs me money each time as it has to reactivate and it's affecting number's that don't have imessage I don't see how imessage would be doing this now it's never been an issue in the past it just seems to have started happening around the time IOS 11 came out.

Well if you want to test if imessage is causing an issue you need to disable the service and test with imessage off

I noticed it started happening after I did a sim swap I thought it must have been a bad sim that I got so I got another sim and did another sim swap and it still happened so I called vodafone and they said it's cause I did a sim swap and they had to add my number into some tool something to do with the sim card. I thought it fixed it but the issue came back.

Well it's all rubbish and there no such tool and I can tell you 110% it's not SIM card related

As above you need to test with imessage off

Activation of iMessage is between your phone and Apple. No telco interferes with that. Changing that setting is a minuscule amount of data. I'm sure that one iMessage uses more data than changing that setting. Please show me an invoice with that line item.

There are known issues with iMessage not working properly when you switch away from iOS and your previous recipients still try to send you iMessage. The best remedy for that is to turn off iMessage before moving your SIM to a non-Apple phone.

Are you sure? Have you looked at other (messaging) apps on your phone that could interfere with SMS/iMessage. VPN or firewall possibly? What about "free" apps that have advertising and potentially extra nasty bits?

 

     

  1. As stated previously, turn iMessage off and do a test. Turn off, test & turn on can easily be done in less than 10 minutes. Remember to test to previous recipients with blue and green bubbles.
  2. iMessage, like WhatsApp is linked to your mobile number, not to your physical SIM card. Transferring the mobile number from one SIM to another will not affect such applications. Your problems are very unlikely to be affected by a SIM swap.

Here are all the charges to attempt iMessage activation not sure why it goes via sms one would think it would use data.

Welcome to the world of Apple.  Have to say I agree with the masses and almost without question it will be an iMessage hiccup.  Seen it and experienced it many times.  If you want to quickly eliminate the iMessage service as the culprit for a few cents turn it off and leave it off for a while and see what happens.   





Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
