Just got the iOS 13 release on my iPhone.

Looks nice, but when I check the Apple TV its still running tvOS 12 and is not showing any updates available. Anyone got tvOS 13 yet?

I'm pretty excited about being able to pair an xbox one controller and use the steamlink app on both devices.

looks like the TVos 13 update has been pushed back all the way to the end of the month (with ipadOS and the ios13.1 update due 24th sept - making ios13.0 possibly the shortest live release ever!)

Quite annoying they released this way. There has been report of bugs already which will be fixed in the next minor update 13.1 on the 24th Sept. One of these bugs I am affected with: (high lighted in bold)

"The most common issue with iOS 13 Mail appears to be the “No Sender” glitch. What happens is every message in the inbox list does not show the actual sender’s name, instead showing “No Sender” placeholder text.

There are also some people complaining that email accounts are not getting new mail, or the unread count badge on the Mail app icon is different to the true count of unread mails." (reported here iOS 13 Mail ‘No Sender’ bugs: How to fix on your iPhone)

I also do not like the redesigned App store app, especially the updates section. The Updates Tab is now gone. Instead you will see a read counter badge over your Apple ID profile picture in the upper right of every App Store tab. Tap on that to be taken to your Account page where towards the bottom are listed all the available updates. Its just not as easy as the previous method. I know they have done it this way to accommodate the new Arcade app store.

Why did they not just wait to the 24th Sept and just release it then as iOS 13. I do not like when they use the general world wide public as beta testers. Steve Jobs would not approve.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Don't worry - it does get better.

The iOS 13 BETA's had even more issues with e-mail, but it is pretty darned good now.

You do get used to the update procedure, i don't mind it at all now I've used it for a few months now.

Carplay is a lot nicer than with iOS 12... can't wait to play with the new iPad variant to be fair.

Change 'can' be good :-)

best thing about the this update, the volume and silence animation... the old animations has been one of my peeves for years

I would say because all the new iPhones were loaded with 13 and there are the reported bugs thats why 3.1 is being released straight away. I am on the 3.1 beta and it fixes most the the issues I have seen.

Loaded on my iphone today, looks good what I can see.
The watch update however, wont install on my s4 as i dont have enough free space, however there is nothing left to “delete” from it to free up space, no music, podcasts or apps. May need to reset it to scratch in order to get it to update

Edit. After restarting earlier I just checked and it I miraculously freed up 9gb of storage and it will update now.

Two bugs I’ve found so far: deleting an email from the inbox either with a full left swipe or a partial the a tap of the red trash will open it ... except it’s deleted.

I use the triple tap of the home button shortcut to switch to dark mode. After doing that the new option in settings gets stuck.

I've found a couple of bugs too:

  • If you press and hold on a link and choose Open in Background, switch to the new tab, and then press Back then you end up with two duplicate tabs (in iOS 12 it would close the second tab).
  • When watching a video in the TV app, the subtitles ignored the "end time" and stayed on screen indefinitely, until replaced with another subtitle. During action scenes with no speech, this meant that the last-spoken line stayed on the screen for a minute or more. Annoyingly, I mocked up an example video for a bug report but that one worked correctly!

The most stand-out bug I've found is the e-mail counter, I have 3 e-mail accounts added and its only displaying the total of 1 account, not all 3

iPadOS 13.1b4 seems okay. Except battery drain still a little high. Most of the email glitches seem to be fixed.
So I'm not downgrading to 13 because that involves using iTunes to wipe and reset.
I will be stepping off the beta train when the Golden Master for iPadOS 13.1 is released at the end of the month though.

Quite liking the dark mode (though a bit quirky when switching to apps that don’t yet support it) and the 3D ‘favourites’ screen myself.

Peeves that battery life is getting hammered again though... how can they not have learned this already 🙄

If you had the battery changed last year and it is still saying 100% then you either barely charge the phone or it is not reading the battery correctly and I am betting it ain't the former...

Discharge 50% just about every day..
Under battery health has Maximum Capacity 100%.

Went to genuine Apple place, seems a big flaw if misreading battery and no checks are showing it up.

At that rate the battery should be in the low to mid 90s. You may want to look at restoring the phone to factory settings but there is no guarantee that it will make the phone read the battery properly. If you are doing the equivalent of a full charge every two days the battery should last about 3 years. I doubt there is an actual problem with the phone, just a glitch reading the battery :)
