When my alarm went off this morning, it rang once, I picked it up to turn it off before the second ring but the screen suddenly went black with a spinner on it. The alarm had stopped by itself. It remained on the black screen with the "thinking" spinner for four minutes, then rebooted. No other problems observed. 

Any idea what happened?
