Hi
I have added my Orcon email account to my iPhone, my ISP is Snap.
I have added two SMTP servers under the iPhone mail account settings section:
1. smtp2.vodafone.net.nz (set as PRIMARY SMTP server)
2. smtp.snap.net.nz
If I am out and about and connected to the 3G network, emails send fine. When I get home and my iPhone connects via WiFi, I have to turn off the PRIMARY SMTP server (vodafone) or I can't send emails.
I have also tried the other option:
1. smtp.snap.net.nz (set as PRIMARY SMTP server)
2. smtp2.vodafone.net.nz
As you would expect, if I am home, emails send fine, but once I connect to the 3G network, I would again need to turn off the PRIMARY SMTP server (snap) to send emails.
In the SMTP settings section on the iPhone it says:
"If mail is unsuccessful using the primary server, it will try the other SMTP servers in succession."
THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN!
Has anyone else experienced this? Or got it too work?
I realise if I use a Gmail account I could send using WiFi or 3G using the same SMTP server, but that's not what I am asking.
