Epson released refillable ink printers, back in 2014 .

https://www.epson.co.nz/shoponline/ecotank/index.asp

But, the only retailer that stocks these is Harvey norman and they have kept prices high due to their monopoly on this product (and I guess epson loses money on ink so keeps the printer prices high).

Anyone bought one of these?

Strange you can only buy from HN. I may wait until a sale but I'm guessing these don't get discounted.

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Also if you are asking for a PM make sure your Privacy settings allow your account to receive PM otherwise people can't contact you. Also note if you are selling something we ask you to offer to other members first. Links to private sales (including Trade Me posts) aren't accepted anymore and will be removed.

They do have them on sale from time to time.  I think originally DSE did them as well but I did have a customer looking for one and HN was the only place that still stocked them. I cant remember if she bought one though in the end - they were damned expensive for what they are but I guess if you print enough they balanced out eventually.

Well, it is about $150 for a new set of ink for my hp8600--- i'm guessing the epson will pay off, but cannot find another supplier -- seems to be no competition.

People will happily go and buy a $50 printer and pay hundreds in ink, but not the other way around. A bit sad.

People are stupid. Proven over and over again.

Also they totally neglect the cost of paper when thinking about photo printing.
