I have a Microsoft Surface Pro (the first version) and need a new charger plug as the wire on mine has split and sparks came out of it when I plugged it in yesterday so don't really want to risk using it again. The plug is pictured below. Does anyone happen to have a surplus one of these that's still working?

Thanks

Where is the split? IIRC they recalled and replaced the plug part, on the right of your photo I think. If it's on the other end it might still be worth contacting Microsoft and see what they say.

pb tech seems to sell the chargers as well if you can't find them 2nd hand.

Pretty sure I have one at home you can have.

I'll take a look tonight and PM you if I do.

Yeah it's at the end of the wire at the plug end. Didn't know about it being recalled, although I haven't got a receipt or anything. It was given to us by my partner's sister a couple of years ago when we were up there over Xmas time. She had been given money by her work to buy a computer so bought that, then decided she didn't like it and preferred Apple so it had been sitting in a cupboard unused, and we mentioned we were looking at getting a new computer for my partner so she said we may as well take this.

Ah, you can pretty much just buy\use any plug with a figure 8 end to replace it then :)

Ah right, thanks! Thought I'd need the whole thing, but that makes it simple if I can just get that part. Don't worry about it Tockly, I'll grab one of those from PB Tech or somewhere, and let you know if it doesn't work and I still need one. The figure 8 bit seems smaller than other ones I've got, so I'll just take it into PB Tech to make sure I get the right thing.

Found a figure 8 cord from something else at home and it works with it so thanks for that tip sidefx. Wouldn't have even thought of doing that, assumed I needed a whole new charger. Also ordered the replacement through the recall link as it only needed the serial number and not a receipt.
