Has anyone noticed this?

If you sign up you get an Orbi mesh system. Does this mean the end of the FritzBox?

Curious to see if they will drop PPPoE also as the Orbi works better with IPoE

It would be good to know how many Orbi units you can get as I have a 300 sqm house as two won’t cut it.

Yup looks like the Orbi mesh is the new default with DHCP instead PPPoE.

Apparently you can add heaps of satellite units but Netgear have some recommendations around how many you should add, and how many can be wirelessly linked vs how many should be wired:

Is 2degrees moving to DHCP?

Likely, I know Orcon/Slingshot used to do VoIP from the router but now use the ONT instead (Slingshot has Orbi and Orion has Google Nest Wifi)

The thing I'd like to know is does that mean I can shift my router (self provided) from pppoe to dhcp? - (or request a config update to allow it).

That’s why I asked since Orcon has the option of allowing the phoneline to be connected to the ONT.

When 2degrees and Orcon Group merged together I thought they may bring back dynamic ip addresses but I’m guessing the dynamic ip addresses that Orcon Group had wasn’t part of the deal when they merged.

something I would also like to do if they offer DHCP but don't want to sit on the phone for 2 hours to request it...

I got curious and had a quick attempt at re-configuring my router to dhcp. Didn't succeed in getting a working connection so returned to pppoe. So on the surface it doesn't look like there has been a global config change for existing users at any rate?

2deg is merging with Vocus, and I believe 2deg is replacing their Snap network with the Vocus one. Customers are either on one network or the other. Us legacy customers are on Snap, new customers on Vocus. Maybe they'll switch you to Vocus if you call and ask, but without that, you'll be on PPPoE.

Interesting, that would certainly explain why my dhcp test didn't work. hmm given that I have a static ip and I'd guess at this stage that moving internal network would most likely force that ip to change. I think I'll not worry about trying to change at this stage.

hmm mind you, if new customers are being put on vocus network instead of the snap one. Does that mean new 2degrees connections are still CGNAT or not?
