Most likely but rather get your speeds sorted first. DLM is always monitoring the line so it may take a bit longer for a better profile to be applied.

You can always request DLM to be reset and start the process again when you have finished testing.

McGee: DLM on my connection makes it's changes between 04:00 and 04:15 normally.

So does it do a re-sync or will I not know what the change is until I manually resync?

Cable should be no longer than 1.5m from the wall jack.

The cable from the road / wall jack back is twisted, Running an untwisted cable will give you extremely adverse effects.
I'm sure sbiddle can provide some more info.

Let's put this in perspective tho, the signal is running over an unshielded, untwisted copper pair for 5-600m before it gets to my house, surely another 10m isn't going to make any real difference?

except it is twisted in the chorus cabling in the street and the leadin, and your extension isnt solid copper. They are usually a foil wrapped around a string to make it really flexible. Hardly ideal for anything beyond voice.

Is it twisted down the street but untwisted from the road to demarc?

Iv taken the black greased filled cable that has 2 pairs and connected that to a jack. Pretty sure it looked like it wasn't twisted

OIC, I wasn't aware of that!

Ok, so since I don't really have an option not to have an extension lead, perhaps I should make one up out of cat5/6? I have the cable and the crimping gear to do it...

Swapped the extension out for 2 different cables; a 3m one = 11db, and a 5m one = 10db. So not much difference there.

All the work I've done has had twisted lead in cables.

Clean up your cable stuff then re up the bit loading screenies see what the difference is.

So what do you reckon, a BT to RJ45 on Cat5e straight from the jack to the back of the fritz? (it has an RJ45 socket for the line plug).

You could do that, I would find the mater jack in the house. Cut everything.
Get the feed from the road jumper a pair of cat5 etc onto that then stick those 2 into the middle of a RJ45 into the firtz and wolah your away.

Well I've pretty much done that, joined the incoming cable straight to the adsl jack cable and disconnected everything else. Will make up a custom extension cable in the weekend / tomorrow night and see how it goes.

2:15pm and still syncing at adsl2+ and getting the timeouts from PPPoE in the log. Any idea on the timeframe?
