dashed: I started having this same problem since Tuesday 27th, we are on the unlimited plus package, switched over from 250gb capped last weekend. I cannot connect to icloud.com and none of our 3 playstations have been able to connect to the playstation network either. We are in Wellington city.

I have also been having this issue since 27th. Was so convinced it was my aging router I bought a new one today without any luck. Ironically the slingshot website wont work for me as well. Neither will the youtube apps on my iphone/ipad/appletv......

In Tuaranga with an unlimited plan

I'm very glad to be seeing this thread. I've spent 45 minutes trying to work out where problem is! I was about to make a post myself!

I can't connect to dropbox.com or log in to YouTube as well as various other international websites. I've tried two browsers and computers and another router. I was starting to pull my hair out.
Slingshot staff member mentioned a couple of people that had a similar experience, but there is no set in concrete fault at the moment.

Same here - i'm in welly on an unlimited plan.

I'm beginning to suspect that this heavy throttling or whatever they are doing, is heavily linked to their recently introduced new broadband plans....one of which has heavy P2P throttling.

Down here just north of Dunedin. I even remember the exact time it happened. It was around 4:40PM on the 27th. I was on an online game. It literally just disconnected me. I have NOT been able to play any online game for around 4 nights. I notice the issues are fine during the day ( still limited in speed with international sites) and always seems to be between 4pm and 6pm that the issues start. I have tried 2 different routers, 2 different computers and lodged a fault with Slingshot. But the girl on the helpdesk didn't understand what  "0.80mbs" speed was.. and yep it's gotten that bad tonight. Skype constantly dropping my calls.

Has anyone heard if this is affecting other ISP's? or is this just Slingshot? Prior to this it was 3 months of hell during peak hours with speeds and constant disconnections from games. Makes me feel a bit better I'm not the only one having the issues though. I hope slingshot can get this sorted. I really don't want to have to change ISP.

- Manaia

P.S I am on a capped plan also not unlimited

It sounds like it is affecting BUBA customers. Who here is a on BUBA? If not, are you on the Baseband or UCLL (AKA better network)?

EDIT: It seems torrents don't work.  Accidentally formatted my bookable Linux Mint flash memory and the HTTP downloads I've found won't even work :(

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I am in lower hutt and am also having issues. I am on a capped slingshot plan.

I only noticed it last night and have so far noticed issues with youtube and torrents and when I try to access the websites other people have had trouble with I can't access these either. It is very frustrating. Slingshot best fix this soon or I will be switching provider...

Looks as if Dropbox, Youtube and various other international websites are accessible again. Torrent still wont flash in to life though.

Yup same issues here since the 27th, 200Gb capped plan here in CHCH area.
Haven't tried all the websites listed as problematic but we were also having the issues mentioned with tvnz.co.nz, facebook messages are not always delivering and we have no bittorrent traffic at all, tried to download Ubuntu yesterday and no connection to the trackers.
Good to know others are having the same issues, or bad I suppose but at least it means I can stop buggering around with settings on the router now and wait for Slingshot to sort things out. Had this a few times, previously resolved by using Google's DNS servers but that's not working this time.

Come on slingshot, you have the reports and we're still paying for this crap connection so how about some updates and ideally a resolution. There are plenty of other options for ISPs in NZ.

and I have gone to Telecom

their network status talks about problems in Waikato

I live NW Auckland

Same rubbish happened when WorldExchange offered wonderful plans, then shaped so much they were unusable.  Get the feeling Slingshot with their $69 special plan have fallen into the same trap.

Interesting you mention that. I was on the phone to a telecom rep last night and he was amazingly helpful regarding Slingshots issues. He said that when Telecom offered their unlimited plan their peak time service went to crap as well, they couldn't wait to get rid of it fast enough. It's now clear to me Slingshot have bitten off more than they can chew with these plans. The system is simply congested to hell and gone. My mate who is on telecom capped 80 gig plan does NOT have these issues at peak time. He was able to play online games with no issues what so ever. I have endured these issues for 3-4 months previously and then it came right for about a month. Fantastic peak speeds for a while there. And now again it has turned to utter garbage at around 430PM and 6pm. Almost as if someone turned a switch ( Of course not literally but it seems like it each night at that time).

The Slingshot help desk is going to send a tech out to check our local cabinet, but since others are clearly having the exact same issue I can't see how this would help. I am deeply saddened to have to part ways with Slingshot. I love the 100 % kiwi owned and operated idea, but if I have a net that is not even able to connect to 90% of the services I use ( Online gaming, Skype) then I can;t see what else i can do but try another ISP :(

Does anyone know what could be affecting peoples ability to log into online games? I hope slingshot is looking into it. They're a great company, but as other posters have pointed out I fear they've bitten off more than they can chew and are simply just congested. And is Telecom really any better?

Regards

Manaia.

I've been having the same issues since Wednesday. Called slingshot on Friday and they have no clue whats going on. Connection to most sites were normal but spotify was out cold and TF2 and Dota 2 servers were inaccessible for some reason. Tracerts show that i'm pinging the servers fine and my speedtest is showing my speeds are actually better than usual. Fingers crossed they fix it soon enough.

EDIT: I'm in the Auckland CBD on unlimited.
