Today I have begun to experience some weird connection issues. Certain sites are timing out through my Slingshot adsl line - but at the same time are reachable through. SO far, I'm unable to get through to both: https://skydrive.live.com and https://drive.google.com

Also - Remote Desktop connections (no VPN involved) are disconnecting a few seconds after connection is established.

Can anyone else these the websites above out for me just to figure out if it's just me or is it a network-wide issue. Other machines going over my ADSL connection have exactly the same symptoms - so it's not due to a particular computer.

Oh, and also add https://www.dropbox.com to that list. Some other https sites work just fine

I'm having the same issue, I can't go to those websites either and specifically www.pandora.com and any game I try to log in keeps timing out.

I'm on unlimited in waikato.

I have also having strange connection issues, normally later in the day, and it started on Wednesday 28 Aug 2013,
My dropbox wont connect "can't establish a secure connection",or the https://www.dropbox.com
I cant connect too any Mumble server, specially at night.
(In the morning it worked, but by 2pm I couldnt connect to any mumble server)
I cant access google play store, on PC or tablet or phone.
play.google.com


I CAN connect to most games server, (Team fortress 2)

My slingshot plan: is unlimited Naked ADSL, Auckland, North Shore.

Hey, sounds like we're all affected by the same underlying issue. Issues do seem to be worst in the evenings, and intermittedn throughout rest of the day. I'm in Remuera, Auckland on Slingshot Unlimited naked ADSL.

I started having this same problem since Tuesday 27th, we are on the unlimited plus package, switched over from 250gb capped last weekend. I cannot connect to icloud.com and none of our 3 playstations have been able to connect to the playstation network either. We are in Wellington city.

Same issues here. No access to Youtube, or Google's OAUTH services. Google chat not working and neither is Spotify.
Funny things is if I go thru a socks 5 proxy located in the US, everything works fine.

I suspect it is something at the Slingshot end, possibly a misconfigured or overwhelmed caching/filtering server.

Or the GCSB put in black boxes but f****d up. :)

I could not connect to any games server last night, (Team fortress 2 or Diablo 3) after 8pm. (was not happy about that)
including websites
dropbox.com
youtube.com
gmail.com
play.google.com

Oh, am I pleased to see this thread. I'm not alone. I'm pulling my hair out trying to resolve weird connection issues at the moment.

The Slingshot problem for me started last Tuesday.

In the mornings everything is fine - the world is a happy place, BUT by afternoon the following happens...

I can't get into Play.google.com
I can't get to TVNZ.co.nz
I can't do any FTP
I can't pop gmail accounts (but can pop slingshot mail fine) - web-browsing to my GMAIL accounts is fine
Speed tests show a fast connection at first, but quickly drops from from a normal 12Mbit/s to around 2 Mbit/sec (I am using the Telecom speed tester at http://speedtest.telecom.co.nz/speedtest.swf?v=2.1.7)
Using the SLINGSHOT local speedtest, it stalls after performing the firewall test. (In the morning when it does work, the test is stable at 12Mbit/s, but this morning the Telecom NZ test still drops rapidly to about 2Mbit/sec)
My daughter can't play 'Star Trek Online' (Oh boy - You don't want to talk to my daughter when 'Star Trek Online' isn't working!!! And when it does work, you don't want to talk to her either as she will be saving the planet!)
Torrents don't work
My iPad can't update

I have tried re-booting the router several times, and complete restarts of the PC's connected to it. All PC's off the router have the same symptoms.
I have replacing the router - symptoms don't change, so it's not the router

As I write this, it is morning time, so everything is mostly fine, (a speed test still shows the speed dropping, but at least all the sites and functionality is working).

I expect it will fail again this afternoon unless, the symptoms are different due to it being the weekend. I will try connecting the router directly into the BT socket with everything else disconnected. I really don't think this will help, but it is the last thing I can try. If Slingshot don't resolve this by early next week I will lodge a fault with them (assuming my daughter doesn't kill me in the meantime for taking so long to get her 'Star Trek Online' back working!!)

I though it was my end too as I've been busy updating devices etc...

When you can't get to say plus.google.com but can get to www.google.com you can still ping and traceroute to the sites, my Android devices don't authenticate so I end up being invisible and speed tests are OK.

I've put a post on the Slingshot Forums but no official reply yet...

UPDATE: Its now just gone 11AM (Saturday). An hour or so ago my daughter informed me that she was no longer able to play her online game.

And once again, all the problems have returned. I tried connecting the router directly to the BT socket with everything else removed - and as expected, no change. There's nothing more I can do!

So here we are, some limited Internet service available, but it will most likely be tomorrow morning before I expect full service back again.

Oh dear... I wonder if I will receive some kind of refund for such very limited service for the last five days?

Having the exact same issue as everyone else, SFTP download speeds to my server (located central Auckland) are being capped/max out at 32-64Kbs. Can't connect to google docs, dropbox etc.
Had a really long chat with an awesome guy on the end of the phone yesterday but we were both pulling our hair out trying to figure it out.

I'll probably lodge a fault with them ASAP and link them to this topic.
