RalphFromSnap: You can trade in your "old fritz" + $199 for a brand new 7490 with the epic AC wifi! But if you have your heart set on something else, then yes we are still using PPPoE.

I'll be interested to hear feedback from people about the new box - the old one has truly awful coverage/range so hopefully that's fixed in the new one - will hang fire in the meantime as i've had this one unplugged for nearly a year and don't need another expensive doorstop. Cheers

Is the only reason to move from 7390 to 7490 for the AC wifi?  I've been reading reviews and this is an example...

TechRadar's verdict

"It's expensive and doesn't have the best 802.11ac transfer rates – but if you want a router that can handle telephony too, then this is the box to have."

And, I am on 100/50 in Tauranga in a $150pm (including $10 national calling) contract . Can I move to 200/20 and the lower price without penalty for breaking my existing contract?

Thinking about 200/200 in future maybe but you can only offer what is supported by UFF from what i understand and UFF do not offer 200/200.

Ive moved from the 100/50 plan to the 200/20 plan and there was no penalty charges (i did get some but they were removed because they werent supposed to be there), You just have to sign up for another 24 month contract.  Im on UFF myself and they have told me they will be offering 200/200 late november/early december all going well, and ill be upgrading to that when its available. Im also keeping my Fritzbox 7390 as im using an Asus RT-AC68U as for my wireless side of things.

Hi surfisup1000

The deals apply to existing in-contract customers as well, you just to re-commit to a new 2 year term if you want to take advantage of the $10 U/L option.

We can offer 200/20 over UFF today and they have told us they should have the 200/200 available mid to late November. The moment its available to us, its available to you!

Cheers
Ralph

Hey Ralph, people are mentioning about getting 200/200 on UFF at nov/dec. Is this the same for Christchurch Enable network customers? I'm currently on 100/50 and I think my 2 year contract is up, or nearly.

Hi Ralph,

For those of us in Christchurch who have been moved to 200/20 and who want to go to 200/200, I assume we will have to call Snap again to make this happen (even though I asked to go on the 200/200 plan when I called).  If this is the case can you please post here as soon as it is available.

Many thanks

I'm waiting as well. I've called on Tuesday to update to 200/20 from 100/50 but nothing has happened yet.

From speedtest my down speed spike up to 140Mbps~150Mbps at first few second and drop back down to 100Mbps and up speed still 50Mbps, does this means my switching to 200/20 still not done yet?

Asking because got a text message from Snap saying my order it's being done today, and called them, a lady said should be done by 7pm if not earlier and asked me to reboot router and ONT.

done all that but still the same speed as far as I can see it.

And you'll be pleased to know that maxing both upload and download for extended periods is achievable, just make sure your HDD's are up to the transfer speeds required.

Heh, yes, SSD or RAID required to meet those speeds LOL!

Edit: Oh, that's Megabits - so only 20 MegaBYTES /sec... most HDDs should handle that - some slower NAS' can't tho!
