Linux: Using the word unlimited means it's unlimited you can't hide behind a fair use policy

Linux

Unless if you're an ISP called "unlimited internet". The supported phones will be ones that support carrier bundle locking to remove the ability to do hotspotting I would imagine. Still doesn't prevent the customer from rooting/jailbreaking their device. I wonder what they'd consider fair use? Feels like marketing in this case.

Their were rumours of a groundbreaking plan from 2d a few weeks back. I guess this is it.

Obviously this plan does not suit someone like me, unless the cost was around $50.... for which you can get more than enough data to last a month anyway.

But, good on them. As for banning tethering -- i don't see what is wrong for tethering to your laptop when you are out and about, and that would in fact be the main purpose I could have liked this plan. I have noticed that my laptop uses a huge amount of data when tethering these days, websites are just so information rich compared to even 2 years back.

Good for 2D, now just need better coverage and speed.

Considering both VF and Spark offer almost 200GB home wireless plans over 4G, I would imagine Spark and VF 'unlimited' style plans with a soft cap of 60GB would be coming in the near future.

Apart from watching netflix on the bus, I can't see any use whatsoever for an "unlimited data" mobile account if you are somehow barred from ever tethering? What use is it? I don't understand.

I would be surprised if it's higher than 30GB, you don't want to give your broadband custoemrs a reason to drop that service.

cry So sad. I'd be willing to pay the $150 if shared data was available. undecided

I think this is a start of something great. I remember back in the days adsl had data caps and then they started to bring out unlimited and was in the fair use thing too then later they took it off.

Not being allowed to use tethering etc, and restricting devices to only 'phones' . (i.e. no ipads, dongles, or fixed wireless modems) makes it almost totally useless.

It almost had me jumping over but the no data sharing etc got me, I don't really share or tether that much but I want to if I need too.

Looking over my account at the moment and I don't even use over 3gigs a month and that is streaming music at the gym and in the car with spotify.

I just can't give up all the free stuff with spark for this.

Skinny, $46, 2.5gb rollover data.... I'm at around 8gb data now as i don't use it all up each month .... just daily use includig web browsing, emails , calendar , google maps, and the odd game.   Sooo, unlimited wouldn't really interest me.

Might be good for people who can't get unlimited landline broadband or RBI? The no tethering thing kinda rules that market out though.

You would not be able to use the 2degrees unlimited anyway, its for "phones" not wireless broadband.
