LOL.. selling chinwag sim for $2.50 and with postage of 50 cents it basically ends up with $2 of credit.. pointless!

Yes but that one isnt a personalized number either just a normal sim why wouldnt people just buy from the store?

It's naive to not expect a market for sought-after numbers and I think calling the people selling them 'scabs' is unnecessary. I don't hear any grumbles about paying for personalised car plates.

They are actually SOLD, and part of the revenue goes to charity, and one of the features (which adds to the price tag they can ask) is that you are free to resell.

So this is pretty much a completely different situation.

The guys selling these SIM cards must own them in order to be able to sell them. How does that affect charity revenue? Am I missing something here?!!

This is really stupid, they wreck the fun of the game, taking all the numbers the people want, then selling them for no charity, 2D has to stop these guys, I saw a $2 sim card being sold on there for $4. The seller is getting alot of back chat and he is not happy, lol.

All they have done is get hold of sought-after numbers before you, me and the others who are grumbling here have managed to do. What they choose to do after that is their afair. Just because 2D are auctioning some numbers and giving proceeds to charity does not mean anyone else has to.

I had the sims at 10:00AM and went straight on to 2deg website at about 10:10 to try to get even a single moderately good number and had utterly no joy, anything even slightly good had already been taken, probably just due to idiots like this.

I gave up and just kept the generic 61xxxxx that was on my sim and topped it up. I also never got my chinwag sim.

It was available the first days, and I changed my number not long before the site went down. It worked well until the bug cropped up, can't wait for it to be back.

How are these traders getting their numbers? I am after a particular number but am stymied by the fact that the my2degrees page on their website is down. Talking to a "real person" (I like their touch here) elicits no solution. To get a specific number I have to go through the web site. I don't want to list the number I want anywhere in case that makes it popular.

Either people working at 2D who wants to make more money for the company or for themselves, or people who sells 2D SIMs (e.g. Dick Smith staff, dairy owners, etc.). The number is on a label on the outside of the SIM packaging so it is easy to go through your stock and pick the ones you want. I don't think 2D would ever have a problem with people doing that, just look how many 2D auctions there are and you'll soon realise it is a lot of free advertising/exposure for 2D (actually 2D makes some money from the SIMs, get people to use their network, and get exposure!).

I wanted my 2D number to be similar to my home number, but it is outside the 2D range. Then I got a bright idea, my VF number is 0210... so I made my 2D number the same but just 0220...

You can never have enough Volvos!

So did you pick through the cards until you found the one that suited?
Or did you do it by porting the number, but getting an 022 prefix? Please do share...
I must say, I did not notice (or read the small print) that the number was on the card. Doh!
