Orcon performance in the evenings has been appalling for me all week as well. Slow up and downstream, and shocking pings sometimes in excess of 500ms.

It seems to come right around 9:30 - 10:00 pm, and is fine in the morning too.

It's so bad i bet Orcon know something about it. I'm in Northcote Point.

The joys of being the only person on the network!
After todays outages, I have just rebotted my network. I figure the outage has only just been resolved, since I tried about 20 minutes prior. So there can't be too many people demanding bandwidth because...

...lordy lordy it's fast! Pages are snapping up so fast it's crazy (I used to think my PC's ability to render the page was slower than the net, but apparantly not so). Ran a couple of speedtests and my ping is super low plus I at right at the max of my ADSL1 connection. It's glorious, and to be honest I wish it was like this all the time!

We didnt have an outage?

What area are you in? Maybe Telecom had an outage on the exchange you are connected to.

Something has been put right....this weekend I was back with a very decent 5Meg conection.

No communication from the technical help desk though after my ticket was put through......wonder what happened?

I remain on standby...but so far so good.

Yep. My Intl has all but stopped tonight. I can't even get a speedtest.net test to finish.
Local data is still blazing though.

International seems ok, but You Tube is really slow. Back to buffering for a minute for 30 second of play time. Trying to download a couple of videos I want to watch using a downloading program and getting 20-30kb/sec (10Mbit connection)

Over the past couple of days it's been terrible on international. Currently I'm pulling about 500k from a news server in the US.. I bet tomorrow morning I'll be able to put about 9 Mbits

Speed test last nite did 3.5Mbits local and 356Kbits to San Jose , CA.

Youtube was good over the last couple of days but back to it's usual crap self today. I really do despair with Orcon but we're stuck with them due to the lack of ports where we live.

Yeah speeds have been up and down as usual. They've been like this for over a year now for us - they used to be good before that.

They have just given us a bit of extra traffic allowance though so it's not all bad news!
