I would do 1TB a month if 1, it was affordable and 2, the connection could actually do it.

richms: They also spoof connection reset by peer or connection closed on ssh connections, irc connections and mms connections.

any other party on the internet spoofing would be illegal, why do ISPs think they can get away with it?

Your kidding right? There are people that use SSH for genuine things such as Server Administration, SFTP (Secure FTP) etc. If my ISP was actively sending me connection resets I would srsly have a huge go with them, and it won't be pretty.

There are also people who actually use BT to download Linux ISO's - I actually do.

I find it unacceptable that they should be deciding what we do on the internet. The internet is a network, the ISP connects us to that network, they shouldn't be controlling what content we get from that network.

Slingshot also put out a unlimited plan, without telling people they intended to block all forms of traffic "that could be illegal" - Slowing is no problems, I can handle that, but blocking it alltogether really limits your internet experience.

Plus to top this off, everyone that joined this plan are on a 24mo term.

So much for 'net neutrality' here in little old NZ? Maybe this is something that really needs to be championed, like the movement in the US. ISPs really have no business doing this kind of thing. Traffic shaping at a stretch, but actively blocking services? Very bad.

Sounds like something on the router or PC end, I don't think it would have much to do with Slingshot.

Surely thats something you need to take up with opendns, as they are the ones doing the blocking.

I've answered this in the other thread this user created. It's an OpenDNS configuration, nothing to do with Slingshot.

Back on topic please.

Usually I'd say that if enough people make a stink, they may change their policies, but I just don't think it's the case. Still, the more complaints they get about it, the better the odds!
There's a number of disgruntled customers on their fb page as well.

The thing is, they don't have to change, all their "disgruntled customers" signed up for a 24 month contract Sealed

More to the point, why is an ISP allowed to get away with what is basically a DOS attack on their paying clients?

If people are having problems with their All You Can Eat plan, surely it makes sense to let Slingshot know by giving them a call and registering it?

I know, I know, you may be kept on hold for awhile but if people just moan on forums and don't do anything about it then nothing will be done.

im not on all you can eat, after being on xnets torrent plan back when it started i was going to stay away from a high free usage plan.

im just on the 25gb/month plan and it seems to work fine at peak times like after work but if im home on the weekends or home sick then its so slow its almost unusable some times is with pages refusing to load etc.

i use torrents for downloading european motorsport that we dont get here and probably never will

i have been trying to download last weekend race since last weekend and it still has over 50% to go.

also trying to download the ios SDK and its crawling

last time i tried to call i was on hold for an hr and still no one answered it had started to work by then so hung up

Gee every forums I go to, im seeing complaints about almost every ISPs speed.

I wonder if either the national back haul is broken / bottle necking, or if the SXC has run out of bandwidth ?

The thread isn't about speed, its about the "connection closed by peer error" which indicates an ISP blocking trackers.
