Getting about 2Mbps now compared to about 18 Mbps this time last month.
Have noticed a considerable decrease in speed in the last week, especially the last few nights.

Yea sorry about this there's a known issue at this stage this is what happens when prioritisation turns off p2p traffic goes hard out that nothing gets though.
We are working on the issue at this stage it only happens during peak times I don't have a ETR sorry.

I will update when this is fixed.

So many people in NZ seem to believe that ISPs can afford to provide huge amounts of data and speed, 24*7.

I can download at high speed any time of day on my plan (no need to name it, I'm not endorsing it), I merely can't do it endlessly or I get throttled for the rest of the month. I can rely on 200x dial up download speeds almost unfailingly (they have their off days, but not an off time every day ('peak hours').

There are options in the market for fast all the time, and there are options for fast much of the time and congestion during peak use times... I think it's great we all have a choice. What's not so great is people expecting fast all the time with unlimited usage and expect to pay bottom dollar as well. That's unrealistic.

if they did actually have a policy to so heavily throttle speeds, though, you'd think that would be something they'd be expected to warn customers of in the fine print.

They sorta do here is there list of Priorities when it comes to traffic

1. VOIP

2. Gaming

3. Browsing

4. Streaming

5. Local traffic

6. File sharing, including Peer-to-Peer (P2P)

personally I'd want to know more than just that before switching plans -- it doesn't tell me anything on the order of 'VOIP is most common during business hours, at which time you can expect P2P to run at 200k or worse, and youtube et al. to run at 400k or worse'. 'gaming is most common at non-business hours, at which time you can expect P2P to run at 200k or worse, and youtube et al. to run at 400k or worse...'

I think the only way to see how good it is, is to switch to the plan and try it. Yes, people appear to be having problems. But Myself and others never seem to be capped in terms of speed at whatever time of the day it might be.

9:30AM. Still getting 1.1MB/s from anything HTTP.

From what it sounds like you want to know what the configuration of slingshot, however all of these values are floating and not a set value they change on the fly depending on user load and what users are doing on that day.

For all of the traffic types above I would expect speeds between line rates or less, the value is not static and if there is bandwidth it can be used by any type of traffic.

That's all I can say on how our system works as if I do go deeper I start to get into commercially sensitive information.

Hawkes Bay, im fine during the day its superb just at night it seems togo custard, but with the Slingshot rep saying its a fault somewhere im glad they are actually aware something is wrong in the pipeline.

I lose about 2mbits during the day i used to get around 14000 kps but thats no biggie

Download Speed: 12855 kps (1606.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 845 kps (105.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

come 6pm its drops down too around 4600 kps youtube is watchable but it does buffer sometimes and watching Twitchtv which is probably where most of my internet activity goes, is impossible it stutters every 5 secs even at 480 resolution but during the day sweet as 720p not a problem.

is that 20% in any specific region? (north island, south island, certain cities, outside of main centers, whatever)

I mean, I would hope that it could never get so bad that users would find it running only 10x faster than dial up. ...I can understand that it might be possible, but it would be nice to know how bad it 'commonly' gets (if a 500k rather than my expected 1+MB download speed was all I had to fear, it would seem like an obvious choice to trade off an unnecessarily fast speed for an unnecessarily large bandwidth cap.
