Slingshot know something is going on but I hear network operations is refusing to call it a problem.

It won't get any attention until Monday when they are fully staffed. No bittorrent traffic and can't access popular games. Its quite annoying :(

I posted a comment on their FB page too highlighting this thread just to put the pressure on a bit, might help if a few people could reply to my comment saying they are also having these issues:

https://www.facebook.com/SlingshotNZ

My comment is on the first status update on their page under Greg Cole.
Cheers and let's hope we get some resolution or at least an admission of a problem soon.

Just to add to the "it's broken for me" - naked broadband unlimited, Wellington.

Friday night I noticed that various apps weren't working - and had to get my email (IMAP to UK) working via an OpenVPN connection - I wasn't even receiving the IMAP greeting message.

Called into slingshot, and ended up requesting a callback (20+ minutes on hold first).  They called back saturday morning, when things seemed to have started working again - claiming no knowledge of any existing problems!

Saturday afternoon everything went to crap again - and I can't even stay connected to an NZ mumble server (VPN or direct) - and my work VPN was unusable.

http traffic to most non-"major" places still seems to work (geekzone works, ubuntu repo sync works), but anything encrypted (https) seems to fail almost every time.

Called slingshot again yesterday afternoon, and although they claimed to have no idea as to the cause they have apparently requested a shift for me from BUBA to EUBA.  (You can check which you're on at http://slingshot.co.nz/ubatype/default.aspx it seems)  ETA was claimed to be either this morning or possibly monday.

I've not been even able to login to World of Warcraft (or Starcraft) for the last 2 hours... And tonight is raid night! :)

I have a feeling I'm going to have to revert to bouncing through my mobile phone.  It's depressing when a 3G hotspot can handle 2 mumble sessions and 2 people in a raid, whilst an ADSL2+ can't even login.

choccers: and I have gone to Telecom

I also have decided to leave Slingshot, and have gone to Telecom also.

Telecom are offering me VDSL 80GB and they supply the VDSL wireless modem and do the installation including the master splitter. All for $95/ month including standard landline connection. One year contract.

For me, thats about $7 a month CHEAPER than I currently pay and meets my needs. A little less data but faster speeds and a proper master splitter installed. They guarantee a MINIMUM download speed of 15Mbit/sec which is faster than the best ADSL speed I ever got.

I am sad to leave Slingshot after being with them for so many years. Sadly, they don't even acknowledge that there is a problem in their home page 'Network Status' even after the problem existing for several days! If they simply kept us informed by updating the Network Status, I would have waited a bit longer before investigating alternatives.

423PM here aprox 55 KM North of Dunedin. My slingshot net has virtually come to a standstill. As usual no problem with youtube and some websites. But cannot connect to Skype calls or any online game service. It's not just one , it's everything I have tried. Tested 2 routers. Did an isolation test. Definitely not at my end. But WHY specifically between 4-4:30PM do these issues start?

yup Skype also an issue for me, connects for maybe 5 secs then drops connection. Re-connects then does the same again.
My issues are all day though, not limited to a particular time.

Back to having no tvnz now which was actually ok this morning - although on-demand video wasn't working.
I've also tried an older modem which used to work fine, same issue.
Tried a few torrent apps and 3 different machines, also tried Google DNS servers, no improvement.

Also tried connecting to a variety of VPNs including openvpn but can't even connect.

This isn't tedious at all......

If this is the better one I wouldn't want to be on the normal network.....

What do you mean by better network DD?

Yep.

Log in to Slingshot website, click on Visibill and navigate to 'Line Descriptions" under "Account Management" on the bottom left hand side of the page.

You will have an ASID starting with llu16.... or a uba1634.  If you have moved, you will have many of them.  Easiest way to tell is if you have the ability to use the easy phone features.

Thought I'd ring when having tthe problem, but I'd a few others have or they are taking so many calls for other stuff...

Not on Better Network, we're on rubbish neetwork "rural" ADSL1 BUBA and get about 25% of our full speed capability during peak times... woohoo another great service...
