bmt: Re the Telecom Wi-Fi hotspots, wish I had the same experience as others in this thread! I'll whip out my phone, go to check a map or load a website and it won't load, or goes very slowly. Then I notice i'm on Wi-Fi, and of course its Telecom. Disable and use mobile data and it loads. Oh well..
On the 2 degrees deal, with the timing it seems to me its just a response to Vodafone and now Telecom having 4G. Need some incentive to keep people from jumping ship..
Regs:jonovw:joker97: Not worth worrying over $19 surelyYeah I'm not bothered. I got what I paid for and just happened to be unlucky.
Great summary jonovw and I wish more people had your attitude towards deals/offers. Can't be easy for suppliers dealing with 'irate' customers when they offer things like this - someone will always 'miss out'.
shk292: Just my luck that this deal comes out a few days after I switched to Telecom after several years with 2degrees. 2d network performance in my office at Devonport was just so poor (constantly flicking between 3g, GPRS and no data connection) that I had to change.
I think what 2degrees has done to NZ's mobile environment, introducing real competition, is fantastic. I feel a bit guilty switching away
Yabanize: Skinnys been a bit cheeky...

Maybe you would want to look at skinny then? Since the coverage is the same as telecoms

Yes, but I also like the Wi-Fi hotspots, they were the final persuade for me to change. And I irrationally hate the skinny branding

It's just the whole youths in baseball caps and cheapness, paying by the week thing. Nothing wrong with it, I just irrationally don't like it.
They were also the first NZ network to lock phones to their network, a practice which I suffered and hated in the UK. One of the good things about the NZ mobile market to date is the lack of SIM locking of phones, and the freedom to tether whenever you want
While they do still have the $4 weekly combos (and they were really good value) they seem to have changed to the monthly market. by being "The same, just lower prices"
Every skinny device ive had for some reason the website has let me unlock them for free, and even then its only $30 to unlock it, It just means cheaper phones for us

Their branding changed alot recently,, To target more of the market and not just youth, While they do still have the $4 weekly combos (and they were really good value) they seem to have changed to the monthly market. by being "The same, just lower prices" Every skinny device ive had for some reason the website has let me unlock them for free, and even then its only $30 to unlock it, It just means cheaper phones for us

Hey 2 degrees reps - can you advise whether there are any plans to do something similar with the post-pay plans, on either a temporary or permanent basis? I had been planning on moving across to the $29 plan, given the ability to share data across devices. Given, though, that that plan still comes with 500MB, compared to the 1GB currently on offer from my current $19 prepaid plan (that can only be used on one device) seems somewhat stingy! (And also makes that $29 plan seem relatively poor value for money by comparison.)
Cheers
Jonathan

That's cool, thanks. But, I still like the WiFi with Telecom $19 packs so I'll stick with them for now
