That single ring this is very weird. My caller ID works, sort of. I always get caller ID, but the leading zero does not turn up, so redial does not work. ie I get 9-1234567 intead of 09-1234567. Is this a result of buying a cheap phone or an issue with the Orcon+ network not presenting CLID correctly?

The NZ format for CLID is 9-1234567.  Normaly the fone  or fone system inserts the zero before  the area code.

Must say Ipreferred the long single ring to the new half second one..

Mine keeps on changing. It got fixed a long time ago, then went back to normal, then got fixed again a few days ago and almost the next day went back to normal again. When will it be fixed for good? (The rings are chaning each time this happens, when it's fixed the single ring happens, when not the normal ring happens)

I have the unusual ringing and issues with the caller id.  The caller id works but doesn't present itself during the call, only after I answer/they hang up.  So, the number is recorded in the log but I can't see who's ringing.  It used to work fine.  I'm on the Browns Bay exchange.

I am on the Torbay exchange I send different emails to support each day because it seems to work one day then fail the next.
Today it isn't working, I either get a blank screen or "ERROR" on the phone when someone calls.
At least we are back to NZ ring pattern, for now...

I hope they sort this out soon but it seems to be dragging on..... Maybe they need to contract some people that know what they are doing? :) as obviously at the moment it seems to be a trial and error method to trying to fix the problems..

Honestly, i just don't understand what is going on this function... they just need to get it sorted as quickly as possible

and if they are trailing it, at least let people know via the status page...  so we don't get our hopes up and say it is now fixed and it is working now... (that update status page has been there for 2 weeks and haven't even got any update on it...!! so give us the latest info please!!!)

what I am currently discovered that, when I rang from my mobile, the caller ID will not work, but then I hang up, i rang again, then the caller ID will start to work, then ring hang up and ring again, it will work

Leave it off for 5 minutes, it will be the same above, for the first time, it will not work

Hi,

I just got an email from support saying they believe they have fixed the problem but only have it on 4 exchanges.. They will roll it out to the rest next week.  Fingers crossed...

Well that isn't too comforting knowing it has been on their webpage for ages..

They should be giving out account credits really, we are paying for a service that isn't being provided.

Caller ID and voicemail are included in the Orcon LLU deals; effectively free if you look at their pricing.  Last time I looked, it would cost $10 to get these services from Telecom.

Caller ID and the ring tone were both fixed for me 5 days ago. (Onehunga exchange)  I hope it stays this way!

I was paying for caller ID with Telecom, when I considered moving to orcon for everything it was a drawcard that it was included but so far hasn't been provided.   Anyway hopefully next week the will fix the rest of the exchanges, glad it is working for you :)

All I was saying is you'd probably have trouble getting any credit from Orcon.  But it's really unimpressive -
  1. They're using Siemens boxes in the exchanges, so one wouldn't expect this to be the problem.
  2. It appears that they've had an issue with ring tones and caller ID for months now.  So they're clearly struggling to sort it, plus it looks as though they're trying fixes one after another until they get something that works.
  3. They haven't kept the network faults page updated so that we know what's happening.
This is clearly not a serious issue to Orcon, but it stopped my answerphone from working at one stage. Someone called me and wasn't able to leave an important message, which nearly cost me a lot of money.
