what im saying is, is everyone have issues to those servers or is it just customers of vocus that are having issue?

I know for sure Vocus customers are having issues. There were a few us who can get better speeds connecting to other ISP’s speed test servers with no problem getting gigabit speeds and only getting 1/3 of those speeds when connecting to VocusgroupNZ Christchurch and Auckland servers.

I'm in Palmy, with a gigabit connection with Orcon and see the same slow speed behavior when using a Vocus server.

Other servers (ACSData in Wellington for example) give me results close to the maximum expected speed of this connection.

I thought it was a bit strange that a Vocus client couldn't get faster speeds to a Vocus server. To be honest, I don't really care because the "real use" of the internet is usually limited by the remote server upload speeds, plus routing paths etc.

The thing is i have tried different servers in christchurch, auckland, wellington, even overseas, but the maximum speed i could get is around 400mbp. Never seen 500mbp. I dont think its a server issue?

No I'm not, I'm using a Ubiquiti USG3 & PFsense, however I do have the Orcon supplied router, which they sent even after I specifically said I didn't need it. They waived the delivery fee though which was nice.

Since you live in my Palmy what speeds do you get on the InspireNet server. I get the best ping on that server but speeds are better than Vocus servers but don’t get near gigabit speeds. Downloads on that server on average are between 500-600mbps for me.

I wonder how the routing works with Vocus customers not in Auckland and Christchurch. If I can get gigabit speeds with other ISP’s speed test servers then I should be able to get those gigabit speeds on Vocus speed test servers.

What is the bottleneck that is causing these issues. Why are Vocus customers not in Auckland and Christchurch being affected?

Those with slow test if it browser window been used it most likely that as they limited to accurate 100megbit connection. Try the standalone app instead found in windows store. You more than likely get rock solid test results and close to what meant to be if using Ethernet to test from

It would be truly fascinating to know what percentage of NZ's internet traffic is just from people on Gigabit connections running constant speedtests 24/7 just to check their speeds. I know it's been a massive issue in the past with all the UniFi kit out there saturating speedtest servers.

You can certainly clock up the utilization with a speedtest or two ;)

I use theirs. But when I joined they supplied Fritz box 7490

No issues with 2degrees Gb connection and this test was done over Wi-Fi to my Macbook Pro

@Dochart This test was done on the North Power fibre network and tested to the 2degrees Auckland server as I would not test off-net
