Well looks like i won't be moving from the $55 plan, the rollover is great but the sharing is a must if you have another device (ipad).

Not allowing a single data only SIM in an iPad or Android tablet seems a major oversight to these endless data plans. I understand there's a profit incentive driving it, but I used to use my data on my iPad and calls / SMS on phone because my work SIM provides my data on my phone (dual SIM, Spark for work and 2D for personal, before I got shunted off 2D by their lack of ESIM clashing with works security polices banning androids). Least they could do is offer a $10 addon for sharing to an iPad like the other guys do :(

Hi,

Sorry for joining the chat late on this - was on annual leave through Easter and last week.

Will summarise some key points with answers below but sing out if you have any additional questions...

Info about new plans
Here’s the thing. Heaps of telcos have endless data plans in market – all of them come with ts and cs and ours do too. But here at 2degrees, we’re a bit more up front talking about it. The other guys … not so much.  So here’s what endless actually means. You’ll always have a connection with us. You’ll never run out of data. It’s just means that if/when you get to your data cap/monthly data allowance, your speed will be reduced. That’s why our free data hour matters. Why? Because you can choose an hour to use each day where your data is free. And it doesn’t count toward your allowance.

Do the new plans have carryover?
Our new plans don’t have carryover data. We’ve created them for customers who have told us that the surety of never not having data with endless matters more than carryover.

Do I have to go on the new plans?
No - at this stage, if you want to stay on your existing carryover plan you can!

Sing out with any questions!

Cheers,

Morgan Browne - 2degrees Social & Digital Media Manager.

@morganbrowne On the day the new endless plans were launched I went to go move to the $55 10GB carryover plan from the $40 4GB carryover plan! Bit stink as $55 plan was removed from market :(

Endless data is of no use to me due to no data sharing on the endless data plans

Good 2d introduced endless data plans but please please put the carryover plans back!

Hi, thanks heaps for the feedback, myself and the team appreciate it. I'll pass it on to our product team. If sharing is more your thing, a new pool plan might be good for you? You can toggle by amount up to 4 people in here: https://www.2degrees.nz/mobile-plans/pay-monthly#accordion-trigger-dd-ec-0

@morganbrowne Pool plans do not work cause the plan owner needs to chase end users for the $$$ and many end users do not want to move to pay monthly!

@MaxineN

My son and a friend are on Kogan mobile and have been since it launched no problems with online support and obviously enjoying cheaper pricing and VOLTE on the vodafone network.

It would be nice in the future if 2degrees and other NZ Telcos allow group plans where the users of the group pay their bill separately rather than the group owner having to pay the total bill themselves. It would be so annoying have to go chase people up that haven’t paid.

Our new plans don’t have carryover data. We’ve created them for customers who have told us that the surety of never not having data with endless matters more than carryover.

But they're actually being advertised within the mobile app as having carryover - screenshot for proof:

Do I have to go on the new plans?
No - at this stage, if you want to stay on your existing carryover plan you can!

I really wish this was on all Carryover plans. I need to up my plan back up to the 25gb Carryover plan. I called them, and they're adamant they can't do that. They're calling me back later after I said it still exists in Siebal.

Here's why the new plans don't work for me:
1) I share with a couple of Prepaid numbers mainly to help out people who are having a tough time due to losing their jobs.
2) This increases my plan price and seriously doesn't add any extra value to me.
3) I need full speed data at all times due to work - the likelihood of me exceeding a 40gb cap is slim but with carryover along with data clock the likelihood of this happening was zero.

Going to point 2 - the Kiwi Hero 25gb plan cost me $60/mo where the new 40gb plan costs $68/mo. On-top of this I have to fork over an extra $5/mo per mobile on my account. As I have 3 devices this is an extra $23 per month. Sure, this is a data bump from 25gb to 40gb but I lose rollover and lose the ability to data share to prepaid mobiles (point 1).

When I phoned up they were saying "you can still hotspot" which isn't a substitute to data sharing.

Hi @michaelmurfy

That is really odd, a couple of us just checked our app and it doesn't look like this. Can you please advise your device, software and customer details to me via DM so we can look into this? Thanks heaps.

Re your other points;
1) Gotcha. If it helps, you can top up on their behalf. Also our prepay plans from $19 give them an additional hour of free data every day on top of their plan allowance, which definitely helps! https://help.2degreesmobile.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/367/~/why-can%E2%80%99t-i-see-top-up-someone-else-on-the-2degrees-app%3F

2) No worries - you can stay on the plan you're on, so your charges won't be increased so no loss to you. At this stage we're not moving anyone over to the new plans unless they want to.

3) The max speed fair use policy has always been 40GB per month, per person, so this hasn't changed. If anything, it's better as your free data hour in Data Clock has it's own allowance, so if you're on the 12GB max speed plan, for example, you'd get 52GB max speed data every month (with your plan + free data hour each day) instead of 40GB at max speed. Hope this makes sense!

Cheers

Sorry you got left on read - happy to reply to you via Facebook or here, but since we're here...

The proportion/amount of extra data is worth more than the proportion of the price difference, so this is about value for our customers :) Hope this makes sense.

@morganbrowne But what about the data sharing? This is the main issue

@morganbrowne The problem is I want to move up to the 25gb plan. I have no interest in losing out on my data sharing and increasing my total bill by $23/mo. I'm also not going to further extend this $23/mo by paying for my friends mobile plans. See the logic here? The new plans don't work for many of us. I know somebody at 2degrees can bump me back to my 25gb plan of which I am happy to camp out on but I am not going to move to a more expensive plan and lose data sharing which is a very useful feature.

I even said this a number years ago - I don't care about unlimited.

I know this was planned to get customers to give up on data sharing and rollover to increase 2degrees revenue but you're going to push many customers away. I'm actually already looking at other options because 2degrees have screwed me over more out of principal.
