I have friends on the Orcon Purple and they never have issues, but others who use Telecom DSL and backhaul to get to Orcon find performance up an down, I think the issue is that Telecom lump in the middle. So Orcon build more Purple network please.

Hey guys

We are aware of the issue.

One of our Telecom handover links are overloaded. This will only effect some of our customer base.

However Telecom wont update the links, as they limit the handovers to 32kbits per subscriber. (32k bits is a silly number these days).

We are working on it, and will have an update for you soon.

Thanks so much for the update! It's been impossible to get any kind of straight answer about what's been going on with the recent 5pm - 11pm lag from the people in support.

With a little digging around, it seems like other ISP's have run into the same issue lately - certainly explains the awful prime time latency horrors of the last few weeks.

Good luck pressuring Telecom Wholesale into making changes - other ISP's have successfully gotten through to them, at least, so that's a positive sign.

I am having lousy internet today. But only to certain places on the internet. Lucky to get 1Mb down every 2 mins.

Just not happy with the internet in general, when it comes to media files and overseas websites. Not using torrents...just want decent connectivity.

Switching ISP is not going to be the answer.

Also, I keep reading about Fibre to the Door etc and how it's going to change everything....but if the international pipe is clogged up, fibre to the home is still going to the same problem.

I am seriously unhappy.

Paul

While I thank Sounddude for the answer, could he pass the message on to the CSR's so I don't have to come to a forum to find the answer..

Yup I have been horrible for 8-10 days at evenings, it's horrendous, I am lucky to get 10-15K from a connection 2 weeks ago and for 12 months prior I could break 10MBit every night and day.

More lag, can't stream music (http://www.di.fm/ 96k stuff), just buffers like crazy. Massive lag spikes in wow, disconnects from vent.

*sigh*

Been with Orcon for one month only, and to top it off they send me a gigantic bill and expect us to pay for 2 months worth of internet. No thanks.

Will be leaving and paying pay for what we have used only. Not paying for this crap. Big time was better.

Have to post this thrice due to time outs. fail
