Nebbie: Note: I see alot of providers have no done this for some time.... offering Inter-provider free/cheep calling.

Possibly because the last time that was tried the commerce commission changed its mind and decided the industry did require regulation after all.

plan shows up without any email notification to me....anyway, whats the data and txt price for the cash back plan slingshot team?
Not very clear. Is it the same as the lite plan> I am guessing so. Click on the data/txt plan icon one would assume details of the pricing would show up but instead the sign up page show up?? I dont want to sign up, i want to know what the pricing of txt and data plan for cash back plans!

Hi Droan - the TXT and Data pricing is the same as shown on the Lite Plan.

Apologies - we haven't sent email notifications out - we have a few more tweaks to the website to do and will be letting everyone know that we are live on Monday.

Our product manager for mobile (Mark W) has done a great job getting us this far, and is still working hard to build new propositions to suit our customers.

Naturally, its difficult to design a plan structure that will suit every single consumer type - we'd be interested in your feedback on who these plans best suit, and what you would personally like to see in the future.

Overall impression: Not over the moon
The plan is really design for normal phone users, not smartphone users.

By the time you add min 100txt n say 400mb, you are at 47 vs 40 from telecom and 40 from vodafone (1 month contract) That makes you the most exp operator vs Telecom or vodafone's offer except you have a so call cashback minutes. But vodafone have free voicemail so that kinda offset it. And how would we know as customer how much is average that we can get it back?

What happen when minute/txt/data used up before month finished? can you top up?

Lots of work to do if you really wanna impress the market.

Conclusion: I am in no rush going to get slingshot mobil plan until more clarification state on the web.

And one more consideration. Have you done market research finding out the proportional growing user between non-smartphone user vs smartphone user?

Both vodafone n telecom have plans catered for both market segments and more pushing towards the smartphone segment. It's wise if Slingshot / 2 degree do the same.

Liking the new plans, just wish you had smaller data packs available, I only use about 100-200 text a month so I would love to see something like 300 texts and 50mb of data for say $12, that would suit me perfectly.

Like the new plans an improvement on the last plans offered, Wile I only use around 300mb per month on my smart phone the first plan with 2500txts and 400mb of data would be good. However this works out to be the same price as I pay with vodafone and considering I'm in a contract with vodafone I wont be changing anytime soon.

I'm considering switching from 2degrees to slingshot, just have a couple of questions.

1. Slingshot resell Telecom XT correct? (I use a Samsung Captivate which runs 850 UTMS)

2. I have my phone line/broadband with Slingshot but can I buy top-ups from the dairy/supermarket like other telcos? or must I purchase them online?

I am also looking at switching from 2degrees to slingshot, so I can combine all my bills.
However, the description is unclear.
For the Lite plan, regardless which pack we choose, the minimum payment is $10 per month right?
I am thinking of getting the $8 100mb pack and pay as I go for calls and txt, so if I spend less than $10 per month, is the minimum payment $10?
Next question, can we switch now or do we have to wait for the plans launch officially?

responses to questions:

All casual calls are 35 cents to any kiwi network. The same 35 cent per min rate applies for Cashback Plans once you've used up all your Cashback Minutes.

I wanted to make it simple and give Cashback Plans the best of both worlds; great value included minutes; if you don't use them all, unused Cashback Minutes are credited against next month's bill. If you use all your plan minutes up, you get a great rate of 35 cents. Pretty simple.

Lite Plan - it has a $10 minimum spend, if you spend less than $10 in a month, you pay $10, so make the most of it and make a few calls, texts. It's $3 a week.

The email introducing the new Slingshot Mobile service will be out this week, apologies for the delay.

Video calls, I don't have the price to hand. I will be adding more detail on the website to help you with this. Honestly there's not been a great deal of demand for Mobile Video Calling. If it's over an Mobile Broadband, it's either your Data Plan rate or 50 cents a MB for casual data.

Some other points, all our calling is to any kiwi mobile or landline, same with our TXTs. Data availability is nationwide.

Just signed up to the lite plan with 500 texts and 100MB data for $15/month, guess is just need to wait for my sim to show up in the mail now.

Also I've noticed you get an extra 2GB towards your broadband data cap for every Slingshot mobile you have, now that's pretty useless for those of us on unlimited, something like a discount or extra texts/minutes would be better.
