Speeds griding to a halt again...
I did manage to get $20 compensation from Orcon, but that really isn't enough for 2 months of this...

How'd you manage that?

Its 10.25am Tuesday. International data is slow. 0.9Mbps down from beijing, and only 1.4Mbps from brisbane.

Had some pages refuse to load, bad gateways again too.
It seems one of orcons upstream providers are dropping the ball?

Previously this was happening during peak usage times (4pm-11pm).

Sigh only going to be a Orcon customer for another 10 days. Had enough of this for the past 2 months. Sad though as I have been a customer for 5-6 years. But yes more on topic speeds still remain the same.

Unrelated issue, but yesterday I was supposed to be moved over to a cabinet, since I was only getting 2.5 Mbps before. Now I only get 1.2Mbps and I called up and they don't know what happened.

They're so competent :)

It will probably get worse as the new owners want to control costs and maximise revenues for however much they paid for Orcon.
I've been a customer since the 5th April but will be moving after the crappy performance and lame excuses.

Funnily enough I still believe Orcon is a good company. They have had there ups and downs in the past. But nothing that lasted this long. Before it was 1-2 week and your back up to speed. This has been a issue for 2 months now...and its sort of put them in the bad light / unhappy customers.

I'd move but I'm yet to find an ISP that offers what I have now for the same cost ie: 60GB and VOIP for $89pm

What is the advantage of the VOIP? You can get better plans minus the VOIP, with a landline instead.

VOIP is digital, POTS is analog. There are pros and cons each way.

Depending on the codec used, VOIP can offer better call quality that POTS.

POTS supplies power to a standard phone through the line. VOIP requires seperate power. POTS usually stays up during a power outage.

As things go increasingly digital, POTS will probably get more expensive to provide, while VOIP prices fall.

No, 2 days ago I was at 2.5 megabit/s (still crap!)

Yesterday they moved me to a different exchange/cabinet, and it halved my line speed. Hah.
