Quinny: I seriously dont get the push for faster speeds. I was on the super fast cable (something like 130/50) came over to UFB 30/10 and my ftp downloads as still just as speedy. 2 full time gamers, ftp downloads and at same time streams to tv all with zero issues. Very glad I have already locked in 30/10 unlimited tbh.

if it wasnt noticed, that says something about your previous connection imo..

Or it just says something about their usage.  For single threaded FTP, gaming, streaming I wouldn't be surprised if the difference wasn't that noticeable. For many households and people 30/10 will be just fine (people on these forums are a little different though right?) ;-)

I actually broke Tesltra unlimited at one point so would not call our household low use but yes it is single threaded ftp and agree that makes a huge difference. Currently clock 500gig a month :)

Edit - Should note that the Telstra unlimited was a special trial I got into not a standard offering. We did a very very big amount of traffic and killed the backend system.

Honestly, assuming all things at both ends are set, single threads shouldnt be bad at all.

I easily max my 50/10 over a single thread to NL (280~330ms depending on route), Without things tunned up, ild still say things should be noticeable..

Maybe i just expect too much of an isps network at this point? glad snap can please me!

RalphFromSnap: I'm sorry we thought you liked speed?! The current promo is unlimited data for $10 (not $20) when you sign up for 24months. So that makes 100/20 $95, 200/20 $120 and 200/200 $150

I'd happily pay $11 per month more for no throttling or traffic shaping, and to be able to actually get someone on the phone in the rare occasion I need them. Phone services and fancy routers count for nothing, since I wouldn't be needing either.

I don't consider the $30 premium for 200/200 to be worthwhile, and it's $21 per month more than Bigpipe for the 200/20 plan... happy to pay $11 more, not $21.

If your prices were $11 per month more than Bigpipe on the 200/20 plan, and not locked to a 24 month contract, I'd sign up next week.

Hey SirHumphreyAppleby,

I can see what you are saying, but the reality is, we're offering different things. Stick around though, I think our next release will be right up your alley! #suspense

I used to be on VF superfast cable - the speed was 130/10, not 130/50 - and I always got the full advertised local speeds.
So I suspect that the OP is comparing 130/10 with 30/10 Mbps - with the same upstream speeds.

All this makes me think we haven't yet arrived at the "New everything" we've been waiting for.

I can't fault Snap for wanting to get people on to 24 month terms in the meantime.

Hey Ralph, any new business plans on the way? It would be nice to see some more data (or unlimited) and 200/200Mbit UFB.

In my experience snap have always been extremely good about passing on pretty much all improvements and savings to existing customers without requiring them to sign up to new contracts or wait out their contracts or anything like that. It's one of the reasons I like them so much :)

@eXDee:  There has been *some* recent love for DSL in the form of the the Broadband + 2degrees deal (http://offers.snap.net.nz/2degrees/)  - I was pretty happy to take this up. It meant I get unlimited data for just $4 more a month, and now save $5 a month on mobile + get rollover data, etc.

Hi sidefx

Cheers, we try! What we're trying to do here is make sure that the new $10 Unlimited bolt on is available to all existing cusotmers, whether in contract or not. All that we ask is that they commit to the same term that we're asking new cusomters to commit to.

I think we've got a fair bit of history where if we've improved plans, we've passed on those improvements, and on the odd occassion where things might have changed to the detriment of a few people, we just grandfather those plans out.

We'll be proactively approaching all existing cusotmers over the next few weeks to let them know of the new deals.

Cheers
Ralph

BTW - we've already seen a number of 200/200 Unlimited orders come in today, so clearly some people like the offer!

So Ralph, if one was already on a contract with say 20 months still remaining (Lightwave Home Ultra 24 month offer) and they wanted to upgrade to Unlimited, a new 24 month term would be all that is required plus a tenner for potentially a whole lot of savings over extra data packs? Would you honour the previous special rate ($95 for 100/50 with 150g) for the whole span of the new 24 month term or just for the original 20 months remaining?

So $95 original offer price for 100/50 plus Unlimited add on for $10 = $105? Rather than what we currently pay ($95 + $25 for an extra 250 gigs = 400g).

Hi kingjj

Good try ;) How about this?

Your current deal is 100/50 for $95/m (was $110) plus a 250GB data pack for $25 = 400GB total for $120.

Why don't you move to;

200/20 for $110 plus $10 U/L deal = $120 total. So for the same as you're currently paying you move to 200Mbps and get U/L data. You'd just need to re-commit to a new 24 month term. Seems like a pretty sweet deal to me ;)

Cheers
Ralph
