It's an option if you are having issues with your TripplePlay. What's the problem?

I had not requested for 1 and it was sent by mistake. I have called up Slingshot (yesterday) and told them they sent it to me by mistake and charged me as well. The person at the call centre said they will send a return bag and I can send it back in.

But since you guys are now supplying NF4V (which seems to be quite a decent option for a modem), I would be ok with being supplied the modem from Slingshot

Replacing the TripplePlay for the NF4V is possible any customers who have TripplePlays which are still under warranty and have gone through the standard troubleshooting process without resolution. If you are out of contract then you are welcome to re-contract and request a NF4V for $20 plus delivery.

I'll send it through but it'll be this evening before the NF4V is connected; I have reverted to the TP due to the VOIP problem

Looking at the specs for the NF4V, it appears not much point exchanging the TriplePlay.
I suggested 18 months ago that Slingshot need to offer better equipment and keep up with advances in technology.
The NF4V is not dual band and is not AC speed on it's Wi-Fi.

So, Slingshot offer a new unit that has older specs than what can be had in other brand/models. Why?

Ya I was going to pass through to my router and use my current router for wifi.I dont think the wireless would be that great on the supplied one.

I missed the Gigabyte spec. I am on the 100/20 plan and use a Netgear D6300 as an access point for the Wi-Fi side of things. It has dual band and AC speed.
Do you mean that my downloads will be about 10% faster through the Wi-Fi as well. or only through what is connected to the ethernet jacks on the new unit?

Well I found the Tripleplay only got about 90Mbit so that is all it will be passing through because it isn't capable of more. The NF4V should get a bit over 100Mbit and so that it what it should be passing through so if you can max your connection on Wi-Fi then you should be able to be even faster with an NF4V instead of the TP150. It's a nice theory and I'm sticking with it until someone who knows more than me comes along and poopoos it :D

We've just moved from a Slingshot copper-DSL connection to their fibre-UFB connection.

I tried the TriplePlay 150 we were sent on the copper-DSL line but suffered all the problems described above. The Slingshot telephone support was polite and tried to be helpful. After a total of several hours across several days the modem had been reset several times and tinkered with both by me and remotely by their technicians. Several times we thought the problems were solved, but the result weren't stable (as described by writers above). In the end we gave up hoping that the new modem would be OK on fibre-UFB. The old DSL modem we had been using for several years went back into service without any problems at all.

The fibre connection was installed a number of days ago. Alas, nothing had changed! The same problems occurred with the Triple Play150 as on the copper-DSL, including the apparent successes followed a few hours or day later by failure. To cap it all off Slingshot said that since the basic function of simple internet browsing worked a couple of times with a different browser then their modem was OK and I should be happy with that! Consternation reigned. We've been using Firefox for years and see no reason why we should change because Slingshot's modem apparently won't support it. Also the other browser doesn't work stably on every occasion either, so Firefox is not alone the problem.

The TriplePlay 150 is very unstable. It can work for an hour or two but then reverts back to being a problem. I don't believe changing to a different browser is a reasonable expectation, especially as it is also far from reliable on this modem.

My suggestion to everyone is to ensure you do [u]not[u\] get landed with the TriplePlay 150. Do not use Slingshot on any plan at all unless they offer a different modem e.g. the Netcomm NF4V. Refer to reply #1451554 (15-Dec-2015 15:30pm) above, especially if you are stuck already with a TriplePlay 150.

I've been with Slingshot for many years. Generally they have been good and better than other ISP's I've dealt with (I administer several computers at differing locations). But this episode has me worried. Reply #1451554 is a breath of fresh air in this matter.

Yep the NF4V is what we are supplying for all Fibre connections now.

I started this post originally and had to switch to my own modem to make it work the last time I received the TriplePlay150. The one I received at the time wasn't working. When I applied for fibre a year or so ago you send me a second modem which had the same problems also. Fibre was denied at the time by Chorus.

I was approved for fibre now and will be connected on Jan 6, 2016. You guys send me the TriplePlay150 again (hence my private message to you), telling me I need it for the fibre. I don't see why the third one I have now would be any different than the other two. If possible I would like to switch to the NF4V instead.

Alright Cool,

Does the replacement apply to existing customers? I mean really it should since, the TriplePlay150 is extremely unstable, and just this last week I've had like 4 disconnects randomly. On Fibre.

I am on Slingshot Fibre, using an 18 month old Tripleplay 150. On Monday, I requested a NF4V, which will be delivered today. I was off contract. It will cost you $20 plus the courier charge if you go back on contract for 12 months. Go on a 24 months contract, the modem is free but you still pay for the courier.

I was going to pay slingshot to get upgraded from tripleplay to NFV4 but they were going to charge $199.00 to cancel my current contract and renew with NFV4 costing $35.00. Total price $234.00.
Cost to buy the NFV4 from PB Tech $217.00, hmmmmmmm
