I am with Orcon Gigantic Fibre and I am on a GZ 12 month special pricing...

Join Slingshot for 12 months on a GZ special pricing.

What are these special prices you are referring to? a quick search using the search function didn't find anything?

There is usually a Broadband Compare link at the top of the GZ home page when I am logged in.... as another poster has mentioned.
It is interesting that I don't see that link on my mobile phone.
However, if I search GZ for Broadband Compare I get to the GZ broadband special offers page.
Hope that helps

Hi all, first of all please do let me know if I need to start a new thread :)
I am going to try changing from IPv4 to IPv6 in the hopes of it getting better Gigantic fibre speeds before getting Chorus involved (Slingshot cannot find anything wrong with my settings). I have ASUS DSL-AC68U router and it's been excellent for the lower fibre plan, but not so for the fastest plan. I thought I'd try IPv6 first.

ASUS instructions say "Select the “Connection type” according to your ISP" and makes me choose between Native / Static IPv6, Passthrough, FLETS IPv6 service, Tunnel 6to4, Tunnel 6in4 and Tunnel 6rd. Do you know which I should be using for Slingshot? I can only find DNS server addresses on their web page.

Then the instruction says: "Please use the information from your ISP to fill in “IPv6 Prefix”, “Prefix Length” and “IPv6 Gateway” under the “IPv6 LAN Setting” section." Again, Slingshot doesn't have any of this type of info on their website. Is it somehow sensitive info?

If you know what I should be doing, please do share. Thank you in advance!

What speedtest results are you getting?

What speedtest results do you get with the Slingshot provided router?

Use the Windows Speedtest App.

Leave your router and network as dual IPv4/IPv6.

Is your computer capable of gigabit speed?

Follow Chorus instructions:

Thanks for your reply!

We don't have the Slingshot-provided router because our ASUS worked so beautifully with our previous Slingshot fibre plan (got over 200 down already back then). I've tried Ookla's speedtest.net, fast.com and Slingshot's linetest.nz. Results are fairly consistent. DL is never over 300, sometimes it's even close to 100. Most of the time we get 230–270 down and 180–230 up (tried several servers Vocus Auckland server, pathetic for a 900/450 plan. Ping is mostly 2 and Jitter 1. On some days wifi is faster than cabled, go figure.
I have got 2019 MacBook Pro and a large desktop iMac. My partner has a good spec gaming PC (don't ask me what) and his speeds were the same as mine, so I don't think devices are the issue. The Ethernet to USB C adapter I am using is a Gigabit adapter. We have brand new Cat6 connections and brand new cables out of a package. Chorus site doesn't have anything that I haven't already tried.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Not sure if there is an option to have both concurrently, and if so, how.

My experience is with Windows NICs and HG659 and Spark Smart modems/routers...

@Mar1

I did not realize that Slingshot has a Forum nowadays.

They closed their original one years ago, as far as I know.

Please supply a link, if you have one.

I too quickly came to realise there isn't LOL Doh! I remembered the time there was one as well! I ended up posting back in Vocus (including Slingshot, Orcon, Flip, Stuff Fibre and CallPlus) under someone else's fibre speed issue.

You will need to have IPV4 AND IPV6 enabled on your modem.

We don't do any form of NAT, so if you disable IPV4 you won;t be able to get to alot of the internet.

We have seen a few issues with Asus with their IPV6 stack. Also lots of reports of speed issues with some models of Asus when using 1Gig lines.

was commented in the other thread, but he's using the DSL variant which doesn't do CTF at all..
