Just to keep these things in perspective: Vodafone already offers txt bundles (TXT2000 and TXT4000) have on net TXTs for less than a cent per TXT.

Add in Best Mates and Family and that's great value.

tell your aunt to report the issue to vodafone. don't know if vodafone will do anything but hey it's worth a try.

This is not a fault its just where the house is located its very poor in building coverage

what is the building made out of?

3G is way to expensive.

And no doubt there will be a response from 2D concerning the Vfone secret weapon that launches 12 April.

wow. I presume that was aimed at me?

We're discussing on net pricing for txt messaging. Two Degrees has launched 2c/txt. We already offer txt bundles at less than a cent per txt. If you'd like us to adjust our prices we could put them up ... Not sure that's what you meant though.

Feel free to keep the personal attacks to yourself though.

It seems ridiculous that they attack Telecom and Voda for differenciating between on and offnet (depite XT actually being same rate for all networks for voice, and despite both providers charging the same standard rate for on and offnet txts)
....and then to come out with rates where off-net prices are double the on-net rate, and off-net txts are more than 3 times the rate of on-net txts.

Yes they are considerably cheaper, which is great, but also besides the point. They bashed others for complex "anticompetitive" pricing, and they are doing the exact same thing themselves, an an even bigger scale than the other providers do it.

You know what they say "If you can't beat them...."

Overhead in Dick Smith store as a manager explains to a senior member of our society:

"So with 2 Degrees, you pay 44c per minute for all calls to Telecom and Vodafone mobiles (that's 027 and 021 numbers), and 22c per minute to all 2 Degrees mobile number (that's 022 numbers) or 22c per minute to any landline"

He had to repeat that mouthful several times and I'm not sure the lady understood him at the end of it. And that was even before you consider the omitted points of:

- Only valid for 30 days after $20+ topup
- Number prefix mobile operator

Is this relevant to the thread topic? I certainly think this sort of complicated pricing (and differentiation between "select groups of friends") pretty much goes against their perceived launch philosophy.

The reduced on-net calling was something I didn't mind so much when it was simply referred to under the vague umbrella of "Magic". Now this pricing is being explicitly stated in much of their marketing, which does reek of contradiction.

Though i didnt realise that vodafone has no off-net texting plans on prepay. I have only been on 2degrees for 2 months. Whilst I like it I would prefer to be on XT with some decent Data and more minutes. Anyway that is not the point, I feel like on 2degrees I am getting more value than the plans I was locked into for the past 5+ years. no contract is possibly the #1 for me.

Anyway I see that vodafone needs to do something super special to even compete with 2d prices. I am a fan of off-net calling - so they will have to bring their texting and calling way way down for me to even consider moving. The likely hood is very low. Especially with the free texts I get 500 a month for FREE which is all Iever wanted.

if i looked at the 500 texts worth $10, then for $50 I get $10 worth of texts and 113 minutes worth of calling - Not bad.

Now let's look at the competitors plans for a comparison, open term contracts.
Telecom - One rate 100 (49.95) + 600 texts (12.95) = $61.95
Vodafone (24 mth) - Texter 120, 120 minutes + 600 texts = $59.95
I just figured out that to be on vodafone with a decent rate - you need to have 12-24 month contract which is why Telecom will probably be my only option. I may not have read into this, I could be wrong but that's what the site shows me.

From what I can see is that if I was on either of the two I would have to pay and extra $10/mo for similar value. Basically I do not know why I went down this route - but what I am trying to say is that Vodafone needs to do something to get my attention, plan and prepay. I didn't look @ prepay as you all know it is a waste of time unless you just text.
