There's been several routing outages and issues at Orcon.
None of these issues are related to people's MTUs or Telecom backhaul.
There's been a complete lack of transparency around the issues, missinformation and watering down of the real cause.
So until Orcon come back with "OK, we've messed up but let's start over" I wouldn't hold your breath.

So starting over would involve Orcon re-engineering their whole network again?

Not sure what your issue is with Orcon, but if you want Sounddude to stop helping you out here on the forums, and you'll be stuck going through the helpdesk, I'd keep this ungrateful attitude up.
