I have had several non arrivals from a 027 on vodafone to a 021 on 2 degrees.

CBF logging, were not important despite what the sender thought ;)

My girlfriend is with Telecom and over the last week and a half her messages have often been up to half an hour getting to my phone. The worst I think was Friday 3rd June.

2degrees sent me a txt this evening telling me they know it's still happening, it's a Telecom problem, and Telecom are working on it.

I just had a txt sent from my gf at 8:22pm arrive at 9:13pm. I'm getting pretty tired of this. I switched to 2degrees and said to myself i'd give it a month and if it worked i'd consider the switch permanent. With Vodafone updating their plans to match Telecom and 2degrees i'll probably switch back.

So, 2degrees, Telecom has probably lost you a customer. I wonder if their poor performance could be considered anti competitive, given it's driving customers away from a new entrant in the market.

It would be nice to have you back but take a chill pill on today, Between carriers there was some serious SMS congestion this afternoon. I am sure you can figure out why

It's been like this since I joined 2 degrees, which was 2-3 weeks ago. Is it still congested now?

Traffic between carriers is very heavy and you can expect slow downs! I can't see the SMS que as my laptop is at work and I am in bed

Well I will not be changing from 2Degrees to either of the other players.

2Degrees has bought real competition rather than "pillow fights" the Vodafone/Telecom highwaymen were having.

Oh yeah, the earthquake will have messed things up. That's fair.

Still, some txts are getting through immediately, some are taking an hour, same as usual. Hopefully 2deg and Telecom sort it out. I just want to use my phone!

Yes there is major congestion still, i've been getting major delays down here since oh say about 2pm, although that's not really surprising.

2 degrees has actually been the best of my 2 connections, my work phone on vodafone was in and out of service most of the afternoon, mostly out.

That makes a little bit of sense, until I think about how small in terms of data an SMS message is, a whole 1 KB.

I can't imagine the interconnection between carriers is so poor as to cause a backlog, or for processing to be so intensive that a few (hundred thousand) 1KB messages get held up for 30 minutes, seems bizarre.

Oi salty... Whats up with these delayed texts? I was thinking i was a nigel no mates but then received a number of texts all at 12:30am last night. Some were from 2degrees and one from telecom. Vodafone seems to be fine.

I'd like to point out that it's not a "Telecom" problem, sorry the facts you have been given are incorrect.
We are queuing SMS traffic bound for 2Deg, there is a processing issue on 2Deg side, hence during busy times towards the evening there is impact by the way of delay.  We have made a number of changes to improve the flow, 2Deg are working hard on their end to rectify the issue.

There is also now further congestion periods due to the CHCH situation.

Thanks for the clarification. 2deg are still saying it's Telecom problem, but good to hear someone's working on it.
