Is anyone else having text issues on 2deg this afternoon/evening? My gf on Telecom's sending multipart messages, they're coming in up to 30 minutes apart. I'm in Johnsonville, Wellington.

Not sure, I haven't been txting for a couple of days. I'll report back if it's still happening.

It's still happening, and has happened multiple times each day for the past few days. Today I got the first part of a message from a telecom customer at 3.48 and the second part at 3.56. I don't know if it happens with other carriers since I mostly txt Telecom.

I'll try to PM the 2degrees user with details. Last time I emailed customer care they replied 5 days later and were a waste of time when they did, but phone support is usually good.

I text VF a lot and find that texts are only about 1 minute delayed... Could it be you are roaming on vodafone?

Just as likely, maybe more so, to be a Telecom issue.

Yes it's telecom nz to 2degrees. I have an 021 number ported to 2deg. It was fine on vodafone

I just experienced this... Send a SMS to my wife, and it took 25 minutes to arrive.

The message was about meeting somewhere, and we actually met by chance on the street - which was convenient because if I were waiting it would be a long wait.

I'm on Telecom, she's on 2degrees.

I'd call this a significant problem that the telcos need to work together to solve asap

I just heard from Paul, a PR guy at 2degrees. Basically he said he's the txt log, things seem to be working fine, call telecom yourself. That's a total cop out and i'm disappointed in the response I got. If I call Telecom all i'll get is a clueless first level support person, nothing will happen, especially since i'm not even a customer of Telecom.

Since it's a ported number and i'm roaming on the vodafone network, and txts are coming from Telecom, this could be a complex technical issue that engineers from all three networks need to look at, not something a telco should ask a customer to look into themselves.

Or just wait until NZ Herald finds this thread and publishes the problem, in three weeks time (as they do)...

Ok, I asked on Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/freitasm/status/76519493085577216)

"Anyone else experiencing SMS delays between @telecomnz and @2degreesmobile? Discussion on Geekzone seems to indicate it's happening..."

And got these responses:

http://twitter.com/VinLew/statuses/76519763240693760: "@telecomnz @2degreesmobile Indeed, and txts disappearing"

http://twitter.com/kiwibrew/statuses/76519985090002945: "Yep, it's been taking up to an hour to get a text from @telecomnz to @2degreesmobile this week."

There is a lot of issues going on there; porting and roaming... I ended up getting my own 022 just to avoid most of the porting issues.

If 2degrees doesn't work reliably i'll move telcos, again. I've only been with 2degrees for a week or two. I don't want to move back to Vodafone, their pay monthly packages don't have enough txt, but if I have to do that to keep my 021 number and have a reliable service I will.

It just happened again, at 17.34.27. I get the second part of a multipart txt, but not the first. It'll turn up eventually, I expect, but that's not really very helpful. The weird part is that it's almost always the second part of a multipart txt that arrives, the first part arrives 5-20 minutes later.
