Tivo upgrades to operate with the new OzTivo EPG, support and service. Over 400 performed here so far. See: www.hillcrest.net.nz
pohutukawa: We need to get organised, obviously.
Maybe we can start with what should be expected, as fair and reasonable, and "fit for purpose", from a broadband connection advertised as max/max ?
A la Consumer guarantees act ...
Any legal-eagle geeks out there?
Ragnor: You could waste a lot of time and effort trying to establish what those purposely vague statements in the CGA mean with regard to a complex service like broadband... it's a lot easier with simple phsyical goods.
Orcon doesn't have a contract term for it's plans, if the current service is not acceptable to you why are you so hesitant to pull the trigger and change provider? Losing customers would be a pretty clear message to Orcon something is wrong, and it would save you a lot of time and hassle.

Jaded09: Aw i feel for u guys. Im having the opposite effect. I rarely get buffering problems with youtube, so i dnt know why its ok for sum and not for others? I have a 5mb speed connection located on the manukau exchange with a Dlink-502T Modem/Router if that helps?
Heres a screenshot taken while loading a youtube vid, as u can see no buffering problems.

insane: Orcon's networks are looked after by a very very competent senior network engineer + team who's got many many years experience behind him, and others who have been around the ISP industry for a while will know he knows what he's doing so you'll have to sit tight and wait till its sorted properly.
On the bright side with Orcon they normally come good as opposed to some other ISPs who consistently over subscribe their bandwidth all year around. Perhaps one could say that you've been spoilt.
and no I have no dealing with Orcon at all, closest I've come is the Orcon parking lot when I got lost looking for Canon :)
*edit, looks like they had some other agregation issue thats been solved too taking from another thread here.
