Seems like anywhere else in the country is fine, just Auckland and international latency affected (which is a pretty big kick in the teeth for doing anything during prime time). Also been that way for most of May so far, and gradually getting worse during prime time, whereas any other time of day is fine.

Nope getting it here in CHCH as well since last thursday. The ventrilo server I use in Aussie is pretty much un-useable in the evenings and playing on the US Aion servers gets the same lag even with an ssh proxy.

I'd ring up and complain as I did last time, but they will probably just say what they said last time, they can't see the problem, then after a few more weeks or customer complaints, they will again order more international bandwidth and everything will be back to normal again!

This happened to me last year when playing AoC got the run around with support and was told there was no issue so the ticket would be closed. Switched to Telstra adsl a week later and all was good, might have to talk my new flat into switching.

Yeah, the frustrating thing for me is, to be honest I don't mind the slower speeds so much during peak, I've come to expect them, but games being unplayable is just so freaking frustrating!!!

I have actually been good the last 3 days. My line is maxxed out mostly during peak, getting 800+K whereas before this week I was getting 20-50k

It's sad to see that Orcon wait until the level of customer complaints peaks before ordering extra bandwidth. It really sucks not to be able to use youtube in the evenings. Such a basic cornerstone of the net should be able to be reliably accessed.

I opened a support ticket with Orcon the night I ranted earlier in the week...no response, just the initial we have received your support request.

My internet starts to suffer from 4PM. The schools are out and the teenagers are online again.

Just not happy, but I have no contract. Could switch again but Orcon is the Devil you know.

Can you send me some traceroutes to effected sites.

Both when the speed is slow and when the speed is great.

I can't seem to replicate the issue at home, which makes things hard.

Will put together a collection of speedtest/tracert logs today from various times. Had a few odd connection drops late last night too (1:30am to... I assume 3am-ish, went to bed before it came back from a drop at 2:30am), so maybe something was/is being fixed. /crossfingers

I'll try running the 24 hour test early Tuesday morning next week, and pray it finishes before 9pm on Wednesday. I assume this test will automatically run the Traceroutes you mentioned ?

Will the Telecom handovers being full be the thing also causing the game lag/disconnects I mentioned ?

Also sux that some evenings I have trouble listening to online radio from the US or Europe..
