Hi dan

Stay tuned for new @Work plans - the guys tell me these should be updated quite soon, but the focus for the last few weeks was getting the new higher speed @Home plans in market.

Cheers
Ralph

Is the 200/200 plan available in UFF areas?  And what would it cost me to upgrade to the unlimited 200/200 plan from my current plan if its available to me? Im currently on the 100/50 unlimited. Cheers

Hi Azzaw1980

Not quite yet, we can offer the 200/20 today and UFF advise that they should have the 200/200 available by the end of November.

In terms of pricing you'll be currently paying $139 for U/L 100/50 - with our current promo you can move to 200/200 U/L for $150/m. We will honour that offer even if the promo period finishes before UFF have that service available.

Cheers
Ralph

Hi Ralph.
Thanks. If I went to 200/20 today would it be easy to switch to 200/200 when it's available? What price would I be looking at 200/20 unlimited? Appreciate the offer to honor the promotion will definitely take it up when available. Cheers

Hi Azzaw1980

Piece of cake to upgrade from 200/20 to 200/200 once available. There would be no cost for this change as its an upgrade.

200/20 is currently $120/m ($110/ base plan + $10 U/L promo)
200/200 is currently $150/m ($140/base plan + $10 U/L promo)

Cheers
Ralph

Ralph, is there any way i can get the new modem without having to pay $300 for my old 7340 modem. Thats the only thing stopping me from upgrading to the new plans.

Hi LToD

The 7340 is fine to use for the new plans, but obviously doesn't come with the latest wireless.

What we're offering existing customers is a trade-in option, so upgrade to the 7490 for only $199 (as long as your 7340 is in re-useable condition).

Cheers
Ralph

I had issues with the modem since day one and to be honest, gave up trying to get a solution because snap rep/s never got back to me. So can understand that i am not happy to pay for something that hasnt been right since day one, as far as the phone side of it.

The fritz's had quite a rough patch of firmwares that didnt preform very well at all.

Because of this, many of us use older firmwares.

Having seen the performance of the newer firmwares on fibre, This certainly does seem to be resolved now. It is my understanding Snap have been working hard with AVM to get things sorted.

What exactly did you have issues with on your fritz?

Hi All,

On a similar note for all our new plans (UFB Plans) you need to be running the latest Firmware that We/Snap push out to your Fritz, especially in the Chorus areas. We have worked with AVM to ensure that the firmware supports the right QOS configurations for both UFB and Snap's setup, Without the right firmware your experience will be less than optimal and you may notice a lot of reconnects. If you need to check this just give us a call and our helpdesk can confirm that you are running the correct version.

The latest version also corrects many VDSL issues, including ones specific to the Chorus VDSL product too.

Thanks,
TheRalph

Whats the experience likely to be if you're not running a FritzBox?

lxsw20: Whats the experience likely to be if you're not running a FritzBox?

Hi lxsw20

Hopefully it should be fine, one of the issues you may face which might not be an issue now but may be in the future as the networks get more loaded is QOS for your voice, If your geeky! enough to go through the UFB docs you will see that the high priority traffic needs to be tagged with PCP5, but as Snap Voice is not "officially supported" without a Fritz! box this should not be an issue (I'll leave that there:)

Some of the items are quite Fritz specific, we have tuned the Fritz! box to be optimised with NZ UFB and our network, whereas the default firmware is more generic and primarily designed for the European networks. on our new plans (I.E 200Mbps) the default firmware will cause issues, so you need to be running the Snap provided one. Its not as much of a problem on the slower UFB plans.

One thing that I can't stress firmly enough is that Snap's system auto provisions the firmware out to our customers automatically, This is something that our Support staff do through an automatic system - they can't see any passwords, and don't actually have a copy of the firmware themselves. the only way to push this out to the Fritz is for our provisioning system do it.

In short, just for the record our Support staff don't have the Firmware that they can just email or point to you to download, its customised per user and pushed out (Same for the SIP settings)

But answering your question (As yes slightly off track) in most cases using a non-Fritz should be fine, you may just need to consult the vendor to ensure that it meets the UFB product specs if you have issues. One other device we can confirm works fine is the Juniper SRX which we use for Business Customers.

Thanks,
TheRalph

Thanks Ralph. Been using an HG659b for a few months and it's been fine on 30/10. No voip config, but not a huge deal for me personally.
