@dapples That is actually quite interesting. I have both a 2degrees and Quic connection (seperate ONT's) and they both perform about the same. There must be a bigger problem going on.

I do understand though that 2degrees support is horrific to get hold of currently but I am sure that @Sounddude would have loved to investigate. Your speeds are quite a bit of a difference too making me think there is something on their end limiting some of these connections.

I remember that 2degrees (on their original network) would limit connections to a max of 100/100Mbit until provisioning had completed - has this rule been passed through to Vocus perhaps?

dapples:

Little update from me.. I switched from 2degrees to Quic and the speeds are good again!

Bottom 3 results are from 2degrees to Lightwire, Chorus Fibre Lab & 2degrees

Top 3 results are from Quic to the same

Firstly I want to say it is definitely not normal those speeds you've posted and I'd say more than likely it has to do with your local exchange more than anything.

Secondly, this website has gone to hell on my Android based devices (A73), crashing the phone and browser and I think it has to do with the. Donate or captcha the site uses but the usability is some other issue, does the site still get maintained? Just posting this tool. Over half an hour

As changing providers sorted it, it is not a local exchange issue. It is 100% a problem on 2degrees end somewhere but contacting their support to get this sorted has been terrible lately.

Yeah did appear to be only on the 2degrees network. On MyRepublic I was getting great speeds before the transfer as well.

I was in office today and got an email saying my account is tranferred. Wow, I still have my 8Gbps plan. Unfortunately there is no valid ipv6 address. Is anyone tranferred getting the ipv6 address? Are you using hyperfibre too? Thank you folks.

BTW, speed is still good.

Contacted 2degrees today. Yes waited for a while to get through and then each question took another few minutes of waiting. I was told 2degrees STOPPED PROVIDING IPV6 to any new customer. Not sure if this is accurate. Apparently the lady who answered my phone call didn't really understand it. Anyway, pissed off.

@eong that’s fully incorrect. 2degrees / Vocus 100% have IPv6…

Sounds like whoever you were talking to had no clue what they were talking about.

That’s the problem with 2D not having a real support line..

I was transferred over this week, the speeds seem to be the same, BUT in my account page I noticed that they are going to charge for the static IP.!? Which was complimentary as part of the business acc package with MyRep. I have emailed the 2D “support” so will see what gives.
I will not pay the $10, when 2D state that costs will stay the same as they were with MyRep..
Cheers CD

Thanks for your confirmation. @michaelmurfy

That's why I don't like the phone calls for tech support. It is a waste of time and I am not even talking to the right person.

I don't know what to do now. The customer service lady was 100% sure about what she told me. Should I call them again?

I was paying the $10 for static IP. So it is still the same on my 2dergrees plan. They took away the tech support through chat but refused to give me ipv6. 😂 I called again and the 800 call ends in the middle of conversation. What I got is the system can only give ipv4 address for now.

Maybe I should start looking for another provider now.

Do I really need IPV6?

What advantage would it be for normal internet usage?

You don't need it if you are not sure of what it is.

I need it for work. Sorry man I WFH. I often need it for testing purpose.

I am using a second wireless router to add IPV6 into my network. MR didn't have it and they were quite clear at the very beginning. Now I can see they planned to sell the NZ business so nothing to blame. The tech support from Luke is amazing. The best tech service I ever had in NZ. So i stayed with them for a long time.

But 2D has ipv6 support and I saw a lot of ppl got even static ipv6 address when they pay $10/m for this static ip address feature. It is so frustrating. I called again, cofirmed no ipv6 for me and the call ended out of sudden. The guy over the phone today is talking like a zombie. I feel it, it is not a job he likes on Sunday.

I had a static IP with MyR. Same with 2Degrees.

First bill from 2D was the same as MyR so presume Static still included.

Thats for residential though.

I'm trying to look at my 2D account but even though I'm apparently logged in I get a completely blank page. Must be the same people as those running the helplines...

Just ran a few tests. The SpeedTest result is good. 7xxxMbps download and upload. Lower to 6000Mbps in the day time. But that's okay.

But the steam speed drops a lot comparing to MR. I can reach 400M/s
with MR. With my son downloading at the same time, we can use most of the 8Gbps bandwidth. Now it is capped at 220M/s with 2D. The download server is the same NZ one.

More pissed off now. Running more speed tests related to work...

Been with them for nearly a week after the move from MyRepublic and the landline is still not working.
They don’t respond to emails and I gave up waiting after 30 mins.
Since written to them via Messenger and looks like they’ll finally reach out to me.
Why on earth they haven’t got a live chat function is a mystery to me.
One agent could handle multiple customers simultaneously then, unlike phone calls.
