All I can say is at least 2degrees has the decency to not charge a ridiculous rate to call/text off-net.

Humm, Not really impressed... Sure on 2degrees/2d/landline I will only get 54 minutes for $12 but they give FREE texts and you can call other networks for half price!

All smoke and mirrors. Vodafone doesn't seem to realise that their are another two cellphone networks and consumers also like to call off net users.

I dumped VF when 2degress launched - I call people on all three networks and VF pricing is ridiculous for off network calls. They don't seem to realise that calling off net is a basic expectation, and should be priced reasonably. The main problem with 2degrees is their lousy data charge rate.

I am currently looking at moving to a dual sim phone - with a 2degrees sim in it for calling and texting people (which is the number I will give out) and putting a VF/XT sim (which I will swap depending on which data plan is best at the time) in the other slot for data only - and not giving out the number at all. Dual sim phones seem to be available for quite reasonable prices now.

I'm hanging in there for the launch of 3G and proper data plans. And trying to encourage friends and family to move to 2d to make it cheaper alround. I have 2 friends and 4 family members (excluding myself) on 2d now ...

I know what you mean. I've been on 2degrees myself for a while now - oh, wait...

I know I wouldn't use 200 mins per month. More like 60 mins. Neither would any of the others I have brought over to 2d.

There's a mix of reasons for me ... supporting the newcomer, cheaper prices, and better 2d reception in the area that I live.

Yeah, I'm probably going to switch from Vodafone to XT. My personal phone is already on 2degrees, I was holding off on the work phone to see what kind of new plans Vodafone had. Not too impressed with the Prepay talk add-on, so I'm going to switch once credit runs out.

Do you know if there are any 3G (UMTS) dual SIM phones available? I know you can get cheap ones made in China but all are apparently 2G.

I think the DX900 is the only one. Seems to be sold under both the Acer and the 'Eten glofiish' brand. Supports quad-band GSM and 850/1900/2100 UMTS in SIM 1, and 900/1800/1900 GSM only in SIM 2. Also has an actual SirfStarIII GPS chip.
