nicasmic: For what its worth...
I've had crap speeds with Slingshot ever since they introduced their "all you can eat" plan.
Speeds for torrents are no faster than about 30kb!
Decided to try out a VPN proxy to see if that would work any better. And it does! Now getting constant speeds above 400KB which im much happier to have than crappy 30KB/s....
http://hidemyass.com/vpn/ Its not free but its worth it. Makes your broadband much more useable especially in Slingshot free download time late at night. Highly recommend it.
Easy to set up and use.?
You wont pick up the Slingshot torrent proxy with it but I havent seen that latch on to torrents in at least 6 weeks.?

Yesturday I spoke in great length to Slingshot about just how low my download speeds were,as with yourself I am getting no more than about 35kbts whereas I used to get almost 500.
Slingshot seem to be telling everyone a lot of different versions however I do believe that the tech I spoke to for once came very clear on what was going on.
He admitted that Slingshot were having a lot of issues with Canterbury customers and that one of the main problems was the All You Can Eat programe was not performing as they had intended, after doing tests on my end it was obvious that it certainly was not me or my computer,my connection was exellent,my adsl was talking as it should to Slingshot however the priority as they call it when downloading files or p2p was so low that after being bomb-bardred with complaints they are rewritting the entire programme.
They did inform me that should I still have slow speeds continue that they would switch me back to a capped plan to which they do not throttle and download speeds are as they state,as fast as your connection can handle, this was indeed what I got before switching to All You Can Eat however due to the amount of traffic that is being used on the plan hence they have had to rethink their plan.
Slingshot told me also that things should be resolved shortly after xmas but there was no guarantee.
unclehorse: My download speeds were resolved today after a Chorus Tech spent time out on the street and informed me that this problem was not anything to do with Slingshot but with Telecom.
