as for hardware wise apart from the wireless..
the 7490 has a 600mhz cpu vs the 500mhz in the 7390.
there is a minor difference in flash configuration and ROM allocations which could be an issue if you wish to use Freetz - but if your running snaps firmware anyway, which you should for ufb, i see this as a nullissue.
7490 is a strong device, however the 7390 preforms well even on 200/200
i have seen no mention of the 7490 being required until now.
They were able to answer my other question regarding the 24 month contract period and end date of the promotion, so it wasn't a wasted call and the usual friendly service was there. Just a bit off regarding the 7490 so thought I'd check here.
Yeah from the German reviews, and some Australian reviews, I could find indicated the key difference was the wireless, and since both have Gigabit Ethernet I'm not sure what I would need from the new model.
