Yep 1.2MB/sec for me at 7:38pm Sun
Only testing this though cause nothing else to do while gamer latency is too high (still over 10k ms in AoC)

Edit -> very next one I tried to dl is running at 786bytes/sec (0.8Kb/s). Very strange. Hit or miss I guess.

I notice this weekend that the video and audio podcasts that I download via itunes are about 400~500Kbits. When I download these at work on Xtra they are 3~4 Megbits..

Normal speed tests show that I get 2.8 ~ 3.2 Mbits at home..

"Hit or miss I guess" - very true, if I cancel the download, then try again repeatedly, I'll eventually get a connection that runs at 300-400 KBps. Once i have a good connection it'll sometimes run to the completion at the faster rate, but sometimes will fall back to 2-3 kbps.

Thanks for the update Duncan.

Do you / tech support have any idea what the problem is with Ventrilo? it doesn't appear to be just a bandwidth issue as I get the same problem any time of the day, with or without other programs running. It seems to be something todo with traffic shaping.

Let's hope it improves things. I've just tried downloading Firefox 2 and it took 2 min 40 secs, and that's at 4:07 PM. Yet, in one of the other threads, some people were downloading it in 15 seconds!

Duncan - As well as the bandwidth upgrade, will Orcon be offering any sort of nighttime plan similar to other ISPs, where we can download stuff during off peak hours for free, as this issue is really annoying me, especially considering I'm paying for a service which isn't delivering.

If you would I might actually be staying with Orcon, instead of moving to slingshot when there new plans come out!

I reckon we should give Orcon one more chance, if things are sweet after the international bandwidth increase, then fine :)
-otherwise we should seek reimbursement/refund

Things are incredibly slow to nikon.com and joomla.org at the moment. Even digg.com is slow.
Hope things aren't reverting back to what we were having a few weeks ago! :(

Don't hold your breath on the speed issues!
It took them 4 weeks to acknowledge the bandwidth issues and they've got more exchanges to unbundle.
IMHO the extremely variable speeds (its appallingly slow at the moment, can't even stream a 32k mono connection) will the normal sitaution with Orcon for quite some time.

Well I shore up they do get this speed issue fixed this week as im really getting annoyed waiting over a hour just to get my podcast in!

I gave up trying to listen to the BBC news as the speed from the website dropped below 11kbits per sec (that 1/4 dial up speed)
Haven't been able to listen to podcasts for a couple of weeks but even last week was way better than this.
