Can anyone from Orcon please let us know when this will be fixed once and for all?
I was relatively happy with the outcome a few weeks ago but it's going backwards now guys.
My downloads are starting to suffer again (partial downloads, etc).
Even web surfing is a task!

Add me too the list of disgruntled Orcon customers too. I do however appreciate the Orcon team posting here and keeping us up to date with proceedings....I'll be doing the same if this issue isn't fixed with extra bandwidth this week.

I'm on MAX/MAX plan(with no traffic management) and currently getting MIN/MIN instead...I don't like paying money for nothing so hopefully this is the last week of problems. I too have converted family,friends and other gamers to Orcon due to my wonderful past experiences and speed. My gaming ping was the best of all NZ gamers playing on our Server in Chicago. Now its the worst and latency is terrible. SAD!

I want my old Orcon back !!!

Well with me, all that is slow is some downloads and some sites wont load.

But as far as games go, I'm not companioning, I have and always have had great pings from orcon (still do). This is on ether halflife2: deathmatch and Team Fortus 2.

And when im playing on most NZ servers I get a ping of 5 (which is the lowest you can get!!) and when im playing on US ones I still get better pings then any other NZ ISP so far as I know (like telecom, my friend with them and his ping is at least 50-80 higher then mine!!)

For gaming I would highly recommend Orcon, but not for downloading anything! (not right now)

Hmm, I wouldnt recommend it for WoW :) Lag spikes, disconnects etc during peak hours. After Midnight goes back to normal. So still issues there somewhere.

I cetainly wouldn't recommend orcon atm for gaming, -AoC- i have horrendous latency after 9:30pm, server just keeps rejecting me because of timeouts. :-( will definately be switching ISP if the problem isn't sorted by the end of this week.

Maybe that will finally get their attention

It not Orcon bashing. I spend $1200 a year with Orcon - and certainly don't get what I pay for. (I don't play games - don't use Torrents).

Collectively the 50+ people commenting on this forum spend in excess of $50,000 to Orcon.

I should damn well expect that Orcon would be commenting in this forum, since they don't communicate anywhere else.

Fair game I say, if you advertise next gen broadband you can't delivery sub-dial up speeds.

I'm a bit suspicious of some of the excuses - didn't anticipate the demand for international usage? And how long does it take to change this?

I do sympathise as I’m in the same boat as you. I don’t like throwing money away on a service that clearly isn’t “working”. But there are more constructive ways of going about these things. IMHO.

With respect BigGuy, I have to disagree.

Lets look at the constructive ways to get action out of an ISP.

1. Ring Helpdesk.
2. Ring Helpdesk.
3. Create a fault ticket.
4. Send e-mail.
5. Create a forum post for discussion.

None of these mechanisms have any real effect on the ISP. They are deliberately screwing with bandwidth to save money. In essence, only 'money talks'.
It has been the same way with all the big ISPs in New Zealand since the dawn of consumer based internet.

Enough of the carrot approach. Time for the 'stick'. Except in reality our sticks will be only be twigs. But at least I'd get some emotional satisfaction from seeing an anti-Orcon advert.
