I've got the 100/50 plan with Orcon.

Heres the speedtest:

Hmm seems odd. maybe they mucked up and put the downstream on the 30mbps plan but got the upstream right?

try to some other locations, other servers, or better still don't use speedtest, try some real world tests, perhaps download an ISO from an FTP locally or something.

But congrats on the install you are one of the first!

Good to see a few more people getting connected. Mine was due 8-weeks ago but should be running within the next couple of weeks. It will be interesting to see what the differences are between each ISP from a performance perspective.

It'll be interesting to see those who are on a 100mbps download if their equipment will even be able to perform to that speed, ISP gear and connection aside.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Hmm I actually wonder what the Genius is capable of. Slower CPUs are going to struggle with 100mbps throughput especially adding things like NAT, firewall rules or god forbid VPN into the mix.

I am pretty sure a 3 year old linksys WRT54g basic router can handle close to 80mbit when saving files using windows file sharing across a NAT inside my network so i dont see why it would have a problem going online - unless the packets are smaller.

Background - I had my workshop on a second layer of NAT from the rest of the house at one stage. I could access my file server in the lounge to upload and download files using windows file sharing at full speed - but the computers in the rest of the house couldnt see any in the workshop of course.

Mmm. That is a possibility, there was some muck up with the provisioning and they had to re-push a whole bunch of configuration to the exchange... its possible something got forgotten

Apparently we are the first customer in this cabinet too...

Oh, that download speed is disappointing.

I wouldnt upgrade to UFB if this is typical.

I am more concerned with the ping. I wouldn't be suprised if you have maxed out the server on your uber connection.

Meanwhile in Africa where they have real issues...

Looks like we need to investigate. It goes without saying that it should be faster than that.
Can you please message me - or email me quentin.reade@team.orcon.net.nz with your username so we can look into it?
Thanks.
BTW - we have installed our own Speedtest server speedtest.orcon.net.nz - should be the best way to test speeds on our network.
