i have gone around on a few threads saying bout my fritzbox 7390 saying how bad its sync on my rural line ,being quite a distance from the exchange 4.9ks ,but really, should it be that bad as nearly 1 mbit drop in speed ?

i was hoping it be really good :( only reason i brought it

on my fritz boz 2.9 - 3.0

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

I recommend you read these two blog posts:

- Are you receiving a substandard ULL ADSL2+ connection from your ISP?

I found my telecom 2wire would sync faster than any other brand of modem. And, it showed in real world performance too.

Different modem chipsets make varying choices based on line noise/quality I guess. I wouldn't think differences like this would be unusual.

I wonder what the optimum speed is? I went from 18Mbps ADSL to 47Mbps VDSL and web page load times generally don't feel much quicker. I guess the bottle neck is the webserver in those cases.

Have you got the modem stats? (sync rate etc) of both modems? They both have different chipsets in them so sync will be different. I've noticed with my Fritz!Box in comparison with the TG582 there's a bit of a difference, but the Fritz!Box achieves a much higher upload sync rate.

done sum more tests unfortunately fritz box is quite slower on my line . got no use for the fritzbox no more if its constantly giving slower speeds aye :(

I'd recommend getting Snap to run a line test - is this Naked ADSL or Clothed? Another thing to consider is maybe investing in a master filter to try to help your line speeds a bit. A bit of a shame the Fritz!Box is syncing that low - you might be connected to an old cabinet but I find generally the Fritz will sync lower, achieve higher upstream and have a far more stable connection in the process.

Sounds like you've done everything you can, might be literally being this far from the exchange might be the issue.

yeah true ,all i am getting at is that people with rural lines that are quite far from the exchange the fritzbox might not be ideal.

anyone want a fritzbox? i see if snap will take it back (doubt they will) since i payed $65 for it ,if i had the free one i wouldn't had a issue
